So that's a big indication that he will be calling the plays as usual. But with all the other talk I'm sure there will be a lot more input from other coaches, including Dooley.

^^^^This. Before even listening, I did my best Frank Caliendo, and I said both phrases myself in a NE accent, and quickly, to see how they sounded, and knew then they'd sound almost identical to one another. I just couldn't swear it was one or the other, after listening.
Thus, my participation above was limited to only lame attempts at humor.
Perhaps next time, some brave soul in the media can say, "Yo, Sal, slow down. We DON'T 'know what you're sayin'."
OR, a REALLY brave smart-aleck could say, "No, we dunnowutchyasayin' anymore than your players on defense do." And then run away.

Context clues give me "so I" but i listened 10 times and only heard someone. So someone it is.

I think you may have just identified the major issue for our defense...

Someone above said it sounded like "Imma," and if so, I'd have paid at least a couple hundred if a reporter could pull a Leslie Nielsen with a straight face: "Who's Imma? And why would we be letting her call the defenses?"
Then again, she probably couldn't do much worse.
Say, there's an idea: A "fan as DC for a day" contest, with proceeds to go to a worthwhile kids' charity.

I listened a few times. Now, I struggle with my hearing sometimes, but I think it sounds like he said "I'm gonna call the defense...",but then when I read his lips, it seems like he's saying "someone will call the defense". It definitely doesn't jibe with "I'm gonna call the defense". But I can totally see where there's confusion there! He was definitely talking fast and not as loud as usual. Those are the people I have trouble communicating with, fast talkers who don't talk very loud, and cover their lips. Ugh, I hate those people! Haha.

I heard "someone will call...," but it is impossible to know for sure from the audio.
In the context of the sentence "so" would not make any sense. To illustrate this point, insert the definition of the conjunction "so" into the sentence: To say "my role won't change at all 'and for this reason' I will call the defenses" is nonsense. If he was trying to communicate that he is making the calls, he would have simply said "my role won't change at all; I will call the defenses."
It is far more likely that he anticipated this question and came prepared to give a mumbled ambiguous answer. I am a lawyer (in the northeast no less) and see people do that crap all the time. If he had been asked "are you doing the calls," he couldn't have wiggled out of a direct answer, but the wording of the question allowed him to skirt the issue. His meaningless follow up comment of "and that will get us going" further illustrates his intent to avoid the issue as best he could.
