With a 4* commit from Christian Miller . Time for one of our silents to announce :-)
Gonna be tough to beat out Bama and LSU this recruiting year. Same with A&M. We will be 3rd or 4th in the SEC.
vols fans don't need to worry about losing Gavin Bryant to Alabama now
Do you think he would go to Auburn?
I think it will depend on 2 things: 1) do we land another 5* (Jackson or Garrett), and 2) whether any of our current commits get bumps. I think we will get some bumps, but not enough to keep us at number 1 without an additional 5* commit. The ranking is nice to have for morale, but I'll be more than satisfied with this class assuming we finish strong with some DL commits.

I agree with the bumps... I believe a few 3* will get to 4* and a few, like Kelly and Bates will be 5* to name 2.
Plus, I believe we will lose less on NSD than others. Our guys are committed and know what to expect this year... IMHO

I think there's just no way we finish #1 with the way that Bama, LSU, USC, and Texas can close the recruiting season. USC and Texas just land 5*'s because of who they are and unless we get a lot of bumps in stars, we will be looking up at the top 3-5 teams. I just hope we can manage to stay within the top 5, but we don't have nearly the room left that these other schools do.
not that it will matter...we wont hold onto the top spot.....
from my years of following recruiting I have come to realize that while it does take top classes to compete they arent necessary to win. And when I mean top classes I mean having the number 1,2 or 3. There is very marginal difference between the classes ranked in the top 5. It really starts to hit a difference around 7 or 8. But even then, the difference really isnt that great.
What we need is back to back top 10 classes with some Juco guys involved that will work their tails off for Jones.
Year 1 - improvement
Year 2 - more improvement and hopefully make a crappy bowl game
Year 3 - pull out some upsets and get to 7 or 8 wins
Year 4 - hopefully nothing less than 8 - 9 wins from there on out
Year 5 - reevaluate how Jones is doing.
Have to give this man at least 5 years unless something goes horribly wrong
I agree Top 5 should be the goal. Your really splitting hairs generally after that anyway.
Our Butch is an awesome Butch he reigns from Knoxville with Jalen Hurd on the way our Butch is an awesome Butch

Agreed. LSU's class is going to be absolutely incredible. Georgia may be a factor as well in addition to Bama and A&M. We can finish anywhere from 3rd to 6th in the SEC and still have a top 10 class.
