That Cincinnati was 15 total points away from an undefeated 2012?
I've been watching replays of Cincinatti over and over this winter. Don't know how many times I've watched the Rutgers and Louisville games.
His teams play smart and tough. It's going to be a whole lot different than the ball we've seen the past few years. It's high-tempo and a spread, but it's no Chaney ball. It's short passing and running behind zone blocking. And the defense is what Dooley always wanted but never could have. It's a 4-3 but those guys are aggressive and attacking. The D reminds me of the 4-3 Chavis used to run.
I'm not a fan of the spread and I've always been an old school I-formation run the ball down their throats sort of guy. But I'm getting used to this spread 'em out and still run the ball down their throats Butch Ball.
Also, did you know that CBJ's teams beat three ranked teams during his time in Cincinnati? I know there are some who say he never has beaten a ranked team. And that's not true.
One thing to remember about that 2012 UC squad is that the program went 4-8 just two years prior. This speaks volumes about Jones' ability to get his teams to buy in and improve over time.
