Look, I know we don't have Tom Brady, but everyone keeps talking about how Butch needs a mobile QB for his system to work. Well, the main QB he's going after for 2014 is Cornwell (6-5, 230) and he's stuck with Worley so far throughout spring so it really makes you wonder. Butch's offense strictly emphasizes the short/intermediate passing game in a spread formation (2-3 WRs and mostly 2 TEs) that is up-tempo (just like the Patriots) . The slot WR is absolutely critical in Butch's offense (i.e. Wes Welker); and add the fact that he absolutely loves the TE position (with two 2014 commits there to boot; and again, just like the Patriots) and it looks awfully similar. The issue for the Patriots the last few years is that they haven't had the big, strong WRs on the outside; however, it looks like we will absolutely have that going forward (North, Harris, Croom, Creamer, etc) I know Butch likes to utilize the zone-read a lot; but man, everything else has New England written all over it IMO. (I'm a Colts fan, so this is kind of bittersweet because the Pats offense is nearly unstoppable when it's at full-strength with everyone healthy but they have OWNED us the last 3 years)
I'm loving the direction this offense is going in. If all these 4* receivers and TE's we're recruiting pan out and Josh Dobbs ends up the QB we think he'll be....good Lord, we'll be unstoppable.

"What did he do? All he did was score!" - John Ward
He doesn't need a mobile QB to make his offense work, but a mobile QB makes his offense much better.
Edit: I know a mobile QB makes any offense better... but Butch is better than most at utilizing a QBs mobility without causing him to think like a scrambler. When Butch has a mobile passer, his offense is one of the best in the country.

But to answer your question, No. The Patriots are actually trying to run Butch's offense.
Good point. That, my friend, is where Josh Dobbs fits in. I just think that kid is going to be an absolute monster in the SEC one day.
