Why pay someone to do your job for you? Another failure by the previous regime.
I think some of the big takeaways were:
1. So much more confident that Hart won't bungle this up like Hamilton would've
2. Hart emphasized head coaching experience.
As the saying goes, If you want something done right, do it yourself.
I took away that if we would've went 7-5 Dooley would've been back next year, 100%
Yup, and I think money is the reason why. I fully expect another penny pinching hire. We'll see but it really feels like they are going to keep playing smallball while the rest of the league loads up. It's disgusting.
Says The Wizard of Oz!
I disagree. I got the opppsite out of it. Basically said the low reserve wouldn't keep us from getting the right guy. He's not going to come out and say "we have donors that are going to help us pick up the tab". We'll se who's right. I think we pony up.
He said financial situation will not be a detriment to the hire, a couple times...
I don't think so. He said those issues will be overcome, and I took it to mean that he will get the money he needs to get it done.
I'm buying all my gas from Pilot just to ensure this happens.
What was the quote about academics? Was it around that they are finally going to loosen up the academic standards, or that the athletic dept. wasn't going to have to send money to the academic side for while?
If we're finally on par with the rest of the SEC on academics, to me that is a huge win.
5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.
Of course he's going to say that, but look at what we know. It really sounds like Dooley would have come back at 7-5. Why? Money. They know he would have been hamstrung next year and had very little chance of success, but they wanted to save that buyout. I'm sure half of what Dave Hart said in that press conference wasn't technically true, but I do believe him when he says he wanted to keep Dooley if at all possible.
Your team. All the time.
You didn't listen closely.
