Fixed it for you w/a plus 1. I disagree with you, but heck, it's a valid opinion, so I have no problem with you expressing it. That's what this forum is for, I thought.
JMO, but I don't see "Saban-lite, Alabama North," take 2 being a good gamble. Might work, but I doubt the odds are in our favor.
Sadly, it appears that only Saban is Saban. Look at the Belichick coaching tree as HCs. O'Brien may turn out to be all that and a bag of chips at PSU, but both Weis and KC's HC have failed miserably--twice each.
"Bravely taking to his feet, he beat a very brave retreat." Sir Robin's Minstrels.
Thank you and right back at you.
My only thing with that philosophy is Dooley and Sunseri were position coaches. Heck Sunseri is alifer at the linebacker position. We shouldn't be surprised that he's not a great DC after everyone and their mother has passed him up.
I understand the caution however.
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
Saban is part of Belichik's coaching tree
But I see your point. A lot of bad apples on that tree.
I don't think Smart is even a proven DC. Saban micromanages the defense, always has. How do we really know Smart does anything other than what Nick tells him to?
