Per trustworthy Bruce Feldman: "Butch Jones' deal with Tennessee is for 6 years for $18 million, per a source."
I'd been hearing about $3 million per season, too, so that makes sense.

Does that include year zero?

Good value. Ironic that the final numbers ended up at...wait for it...$18 million.
Is his buyout higher or lower than the GDP of a small Middle Eastern nation?
Wow that is awesome +1
There will be no choice but to keep him. At 3 million, the buyout after 3 years has to be huge. For the life of me, I don't understand why these AD's can't write contacts with performance based pay.
Wow 3 mil a year. Ain't that kinda high for him?
Dumb money. What a waste.

I thought we'd learned our lesson with overpriced contracts for too great a period of time. Guess not.
Welcome to the CheckerBoard bcm. Funny first post. +1 GO VOLS!
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
Offer from Colorado was $2.47 million per year for 5 years, so yes. IMO it's the reason he "wanted" Tennessee as everyone is talking about. Of course he "wanted" TN. More money, longer contract, probably a HUGE buyout, facilities, and SEC. I'll support him regardless, but we'll have to wait and see if it pans out.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
So next year Dooley will make more than Jones.
Maybe not you but others were bitching because we didn't to over $4m for Strong, why does this sound like too much for a guy with more HC experience, a better overall record as an HC and (2) Conf COY in a row?
Great hire, if Strong had left, he would have been my first choice. Louisville has been battling his Cinci teams for several years now. He is an impressive motivator, and apparently a good recruiter. What more can you ask for?
Wow Mike Hamilton negotiated a better contract than Hart. Why would you think you had to pay this anywhere near 3 million a year.
3m is exactly where it should be I think. The real question as others have said is how that buyout is structured. If we gave the guy another ridiculous Dooley buyout it is a catastrophe.
That's higher than Mark Richt.

Your team. All the time.
There's no bamboo growing anymore, it's win now! Your coach said so!
And for those who know soccer:
There actually several performance-based escalators, as well as penalties if the team fails to make a minimum APR, among other things...
