You 100% can question a coach on this board, that is why I like this board. The problem is the people who do it are typically incapable of doing it logically and/or are smug after losses.
Reread this thread. The objections are to smugness after a loss and using the dumbest possible logic to make the point that Zo might not be the guy.
Why are you guys bashing him for telling the truth? It don't take a Brain surgeon to see that the basketball we are playing is awful he is totally right if you watch the games they are boring and frustrating anybody that thinks any different must not be watching
What people are failing to acknowledge is the fact CBP was not fired because we had a bad team. He left CCM the keys to an established winning program not one who needed rebuilding. CCM is dragging this program down not bringing it up and there is no debating that fact. Really funny how many of you get so invested in unproven coaches when they have done nothing to earn that trust.
I have a sinking feeling we are really going to struggle the rest of the year and the conversation is only going to get more contentious on here.
It did need rebuilding after the NCAA investigation and after everyone left early. We didn't have SEC depth and as a result we are where we are. One bad injury and a few not playing up to potential = this seasons mess.
No it didn't Bruce would have been in the tourney last year if he were still here. Martin;s biggest downfall was he replaced Harris and Hopson with Chievous, Miller, and Washpun.
Correct CBP did leave a good nucleus for his style of play, these guys weren't recruited to play the Big Ten style CCM plays. They were recruited to play fast pace up and down and they still haven't adjusted. The only one who strived in this physical style is Maymon these other guys want to play school yard ball which isn't CCM style. The need for a real point guard hurts this team a QB to say let's get in the play, also lack of a real outside threat is killing Stokes because all teams will triple team him until someone proves they can stroke the J. McBee isn't the answer, Reese who knows but right now this team is just terrible in the offensive end and now the defense sucks so yes it could be a long year. But I will watch and cheer for the Vols no matter how painful it gets watching the offense.
Wasn't Miller a Pearl recruit?
One year of recruiting solves that problem... CCM didnt get it done in that aspect with Waspun and them.
No way Bruce gets in the tourney last year... That streak was bound to end at sometime... Heck even after Donavon won a title at UF, he found a couple of his teams in the NIT right after that.... It's good to make the tourney, but that is not happening every year unless you're a Duke or UNC...
Nope a member of Martin's first class,
What I am saying is with all that and BP leaving like he did hurt our recruiting and probably had a lot to do with Hopson and Harris leaving early. Also the last tournament team should not have made it in.
Oh it definitely hurt recruiting.
I swear I haven't been smoking the good stuff.... I don't know why the heck I was thinking he was....
If Pearl left to take another job you could make the point that Zo inherited a great program, but Pearl left in disgrace with perceived violations looming. Plus, the two best players on the roster left for the NBA.
Do you actually believe that with the roster we had last year Pearl makes it to the tournament?
We were in the 8-9 game where the NCAA screwed us on seeding that year so you are not remembering correctly. We lost so bad in the 1st round because it was leaked by Hamilton that Bruce was pretty much gone as soon as the NCAA tourney was over
The point in all this is a good coach like CBP took a program who hadn't been to the tourney in years and took them to the tourney in his first year and then for 6 straight years.not the other way around like Martin has done.
Screwed us on seeding. We were terrible in the SEC that season and limped into the tournament. The BP thing affected the team and him coming back hurt the team even worse I thought because he was such a distraction.
