This thread is for discussion and questions pertaining to Charlie Strong as a candidate for the HC position at the University of Tennessee. In an effort to organize the active threads on the GVX247 board, please contain any discussion about Strong into this thread.
Who wouldn't want this guy to coach their team?

The national champion is clad in Big Orange!"
Glad to see these threads started. Good Job +1
There are only four answers to any question: Yes, No, I don't know, or the Correct Answer.
Hopefully this streamlines things. Thx for doing this. +1
Strong and Fedora are my top 2 on the wish list. Both seem to be safe bets with considerable upside and few negatives. Would be happy with either.
^^^^^^^^^^^ Yup! Wouldn't be heartbroken with Fisher, though.
Tex, I gave you a +1 because I love this idea. We can also take an very unofficial fan poll and see which candidate receives the most +1's.
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
Hubbs was on WBIR and reported that the Strong interview "went very well according to Strong". He also said that Strong "really helped himself" during the interview.
Can't wait for the VIP Room!
Strong as HC? I'd be fine w the hire. My friends disagree w me tho. Jonny G isn't the one and only coach that can bring UT back.
The big key to ANY new coach is that the fan base has to be patient. Nobody is gonna make this team a NC contender in one year, but 2-3 years down the road anything is possible. If the new HC can get this program to 8+ wins a season by year 2, then he should be given the time needed to get to that next level (i.e., an extension) - otherwise you wil have the same negative recruiting and tactics that were used against Tennessee and Dooley for the last year.
This guy knows how to recruit Florida. Don't we need some speed on the defensive side of the ball? Hmm..
I agree, I just hope that the next coach at this university is someone that the whole team gets behind and wants to play for.
One hundred percent feel that he would take the job as soon as its offered (assuming we do offer the job to him. Number one my list due to him being a great defensive mind and would be a great recruiter here with his knowledge of Florida area. Quick question if he did get hired do you guys think we would spend the money to hire a big time O Coordinator or does he bring his guy or maybe even keep Chaney (I gurantee he keeps Pittman and Graham due to the fine job they did but not sure about Chaney)?
"Give him six" "We don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama" "Grit N Grind"
Strong at top of my list of candidates being deiscussed regularly.
IT TAKES NO TALENT TO HUSTLE
the only reason that I question this info is did Strong really talk about speaking with UT... I really have a hard time believing that considering how pissed he was with the report that he met with Auburn. I know the circumstances were different at the time (when the Auburn report surfaced, he still had a game left), but I think he will play this very tight the vest from his initial reaction.
Hire strong and be done with it!
He has my vote
Just watched Strong's PC and he would not say he was going to be at UL next year. He sidestepped the issue and tried to stay on the Sugar Bowl and his team... so...just maybe.
