Really starting to warm to Charlie Strong. Really like his credentials and the fact that he's well connected in the South. He's a player's coach and I think he could get our roster to perform better than Dooley ever did.
"Count it down with me. Five, four, three, two, one.
The national champion is clad in Big Orange!"
Butch Jones. Who???
I live in Louisville and the current odds have him at 3 to 2 staying at UofL, 4/1 to UT, 10/1 Arkansas 25/1 Auburn.
We could do alot worse than Charley Strong. Won't be my #1 but I would be very pleased if came aboard.
And for those who know soccer:
There are only four answers to any question: Yes, No, I don't know, or the Correct Answer.
Card fan in TN...
I think you have the right idea. Charlie is a great recruiter and a solid coach, but not a great coach. His defenses have actually gotten worse and many fans bemoan poor fundamentals. He has lousy PR skills and speaks poorly. That said, his players love him. He has lots of talent now at Louisville, but they don't seem to respond well to his coaching. I think he is just lucky that the schedule has been so easy living in such a bad conference. It certainly doesn't hurt to have Teddy Bridgewater who is truly a special talent. He certainly would be able to recruit better talent at UT and that may cover up some of his flaws as it pertains to schemes.
He wouldn't be my first choice, but we are thankful to have had him rebuild our team.
