my answer is if we take 2 of 4 from bama, uga, uf, and usc.

Positive turnover ratio and a 1,000 yard rusher.
Bray passes for at least 2,700 yards and Lane is a 1,000 yard rusher.
That's the only way this year would be a success for Tennessee?
How about just winning eight or more games?

... We have no key injuries.
If Tennessee finds a running back to gain over a 100 yards a game consistently.
I don't see the vols doing worse than 8-4 without injuries.
We win the SEC East
I like this a lot Plus 1. If we have a 1,000 yard rusher we could have a special year. I'll say if we are in the top 4 in 3rd down conversion rate we will win 9 games.
We score more points than the other team in at least 8 games.
I agree...big picture means we had a good year and continue with no set backs. +1 for you.
8 or more wins and staying in the games that they don't. Hanging 50 plus on vandy would be nice too.
if we are able to take 2 of those 4 i feel we do win at least 8
8 wins ... with one of those being the opening game in the Damn Dome and another coming against UF, UGA, or Bama (preferably UF). Also, (1) no blowout losses/2nd half collapses, and (2) no losses to what would once be deemed lesser opponents (KY, Vandy, MS State, though the latter would not be too bad if other games fell our way).
Clay Travis continues to be negative and worship James Franklin.
I agree, but I also think UT can win eight without winning two of those. That was my point.
Agree. We could lose all 4 of those and sweep the rest or lose one more (7-5) and win our bowl game and go 8-5. What if we are very competitive in all those games and just dont beat one of the best 4 that you mentioned and go 8-4....is that a failure? I cant see it bc we dont the numbers that our competition has in SRs, RS SRs, RS JRs and even RS SO's.
Great thread and IMO keeping Dooley for 2013 is a great answer. We need this staff to succeed and keep on recruiting and building this program back with depth, talent and experienced players that I mentioned above that this team still does not have vs our competition.
This is a difficult question for me because I want CDD to have a long tenure here and think the program needs stability, however I think you have to be able to hold people accountable.
We have the talent to win 2 of 4 (UGA, SCAR, UF, ALA) and to me that is the measure of this being a successful season. We either can compete with the elites in the SEC or we can't, and if we can't with a projected 1st round QB, 2 top receivers, and a highly rated experienced line, I'm not sure we ever will.
I think this program really needs to snap out of never winning as an underdog, and we have the talent to do it.
That said, I am not advocating firing CDD if we don't. I just don't think UT should consider this season successful if we don't beat 1 or 2 of these 4.

Rush for 210 ypg. Allow less than 150 per game. We will be the hottest team around. WE ARE GONNA BE GOOD THIS YEAR. That's doesn't mean undefeated. We will be in every game this year. Dooley is the man to turn it around just think nothing really negative this whole offseason. That's a win right there so we are 1-0 already.
2 Words: Beat Bama!
Ehh we probably aren't there yet. So I'll go with we show improvement and win 7 or 8 games.
Best thing to come out of Alabama: I-59 North
...if we run the ball effectively and defend the run effectively and stay healthy. This team is still not very deep compared to SEC teams. We are going to pass well - that's a given. If we do those other things then we could be scary, but I honestly think we will be mediocre at both. I hope we win all he games we are supposed to and upset a GA, SC or FL. Taking 2 of 4 from that lot is having very high expectations. That's fine when UT is UT but we aren't quite there yet IMO
