Saw on twitter that he said he was having surgery??? and he will be at a new position next year??
I saw that as well. I think he is referring to the TE position but I could be wrong. I wish him the best of luck in his recovery.
I like the move to TE- he could become a beast- he just out grew the WR position.
Love the move. This team is going to NEED CP to stay next year or we may absolutely blow at WR.
What's his surgery for? Any word yet?
Here's what he tweeted earlier:
@j_croom18: Getting surgery tomorrow on my shoulder. Gonna get it done now so I can ball out at my new position next year.
In response to someone who asked if he could redshirt this year, he said:
@j_croom18: yeah, medical red shirt
@j_croom18: I said I would NEVER put my hand in the ground ,but that changed. #VOLNATION here's your newest TE haha
Later, in response to another question, he said:
@j_croom18: I already weigh 230. All I need Is 20lbs and we've already started my diet

Thanks Ryan. I hardly use twitter anymore unless something big is happening.
Nice so our TE Depth chart will be...
RS FR- Croom
RS FR- Meredith
I'd like to see Downs put on 20LB's to and become a great run blocker.
Ugggh. The injury bug seems to be creeping up on us again.
Does anyone think he will have problems run blocking? I talk vols to a dude and that is all he says .. He dont think he can run block.. I say give the man a shot and lets all see.You know how some folks are...Hope he has a very speedy recovery ..
C'est la vie in the SEC unfortunately
Orson Charles was a terrible run blocker, he can fit into that mold as a hybrid kind of like Dallas Clark who also sucked at run blocking.
this surgery actually works in favor of us. he'll be granted another full year a freshman eligibility even though he's played a few snaps this year
