Cuonzo: Jarnell Stokes is obviously taking steps toward becoming the dominant player he should be. But he's still got room for improvement.
Cuonzo: When Jarnell Stokes is making FTs, he's just about impossible to stop.
Cuonzo: Jarnell Stokes isn't a really loud personality, but he's certainly not a soft basketball player.
Cuonzo: Vols were tired at the end of the Georgia game, needed to add to the rotation going forward. Not taking anything away from Georgia.
Cuonzo: Quinton Chievous fouls a lot, but at least he gets his money's worth.
Cuonzo on Vandy's Kevin Stallings saying Jarnell Stokes is playing like a 1st-round pick: "(Laughter.)"
Stallings trying to make him leave?
Cuonzo: Have to have good PG play to win at Vandy's Memorial Gym because of the funky setup.
Cuonzo on Vandy's Kedren Johnson: We didn't keep him in front of us in the 2ndH last time, and he made us pay. Have to do that to beat 'em.
Cuonzo on playing Vandy: "It's a physical game, a tough game, bottom line. Every time."
Cuonzo: Vols and Vandy aren't having the seasons they're used to having, "but rivalries don't change."
Cuonzo: "We're gonna try to" keep mixing it up on defense with some zones, traps. He smiled because he REALLY hates it.
Stallings..always trying to stick it to us even when he's handing out compliments..
What is his aversion to zones and traps? There are obvious scenarios to have them as part of your repertoire. For example - If he were the coach of an opposing team, how could he not run zone against this current team? Glad to see him trying something new though. That stubbornness has been frustrating.
