BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
Ken Griffey Jr without a doubt.
Played against him in high school. He was amazing.
I don't think there will be another baseball player in my lifetime that has more talent then Griffery did.
My dad has Mickey Mantle (who is the greatest baseball player of all time) and I have Griffey.
Football: Ken Stabler, Archie Manning, Bob Hayes, Reggie White, Larry Csonka
Baseball: Hank Aaron, Phil Niekro, Dale Murphy, Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan
Basketball: I could watch the NBA when Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Dr. J and Jordan were around. I could care less about it now.
Golf: Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson
Wrestling: I grew up watching Knoxville "live" wrestling with my dad -- Whitey Caldwell, Ron and Don Wright, Corsica Joe. The promoter was a guy named John Cazana and Big Jim Hess was the commentator.
Football: Al Wilson, Peyton Manning, Brett Farve
Baseball: Chipper Jones, Greg Maddux, John Smoltz
Racing: Dale Earnhardt
Football: Herschel Walker, John Elway
Baseball:Dale Murphy and Will Clark in the NL, Jose Canseco in the AL. My favorite pitcher as a young kid was Zane Smith. I even grew my mini-mullet out to match his. I was a hopeless Braves fan.
Basketball: Dominique Wilkins and Larry Bird when I was really young. Favorite player of my teen years and of all time is David Robinson.
College Football: Without question Al Wilson. When I was really little, it was Dale Jones.
Wrestling: Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan. I was a good guy.
Golf: Mark Calcaveccia and Freddy Boom Boom Couples

Holy 'Carolina, it is almost like you stole my list!
Football: Alan Page, Carl Eller, Jim Marshall, Frantastic, Chuck Foreman, etc. - gotta put some hate on the cheating Drew Pearson!
Baseball: Anybody on the Big Red Machine led by Johnny Bench, Pete Charlie Hustle Rose, Joe Morgan & Dave Concepcion (sp)

"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
I spent a few years in Philly when I was young, so that's the reason for the Philly bias.
Football - Reggie White(that whole Eagles defense was awesome), Randall Cunningham
Baseball - Mike Schmidt, Orel Hershiser(He was awesome with the 59+ scoreless inning streak)
Basketball - Dr. J, Chuck Barkley, Pistol Pete(never saw him play but read everything I could about the guy).
Hockey - Ron Hextall, Eric Lindros
Football-Raynoch Thompson, Deon Grant
Basketball- Vincent Yarbrough
Baseball- Griffey Jr
Soccer-Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride
Michael Jordan, Joe Montana, Dale Earnhardt and Mike Tyson in his prime
Mike Tyson Punchout was the greatest game ever made for Nintendo!
I just listed pro players: Here are the college icons from my youth:
Football: Bobby Majors, Jackie Walker, Bobby Scott, Condredge Holloway, Curt Watson, Haskel Stanback, Stanely Morgan, Larry Seivers, Conrad Graham
Basketball: Jimmy England, Jack Snow, Ernie & Bernie, and Mike Jackson. Also have to list David Thompson from NC State - the man was a beast!
Well, at least a couple others are as old as me:
Football: Bob Griese, Larry Csonka, Nick Bounticonti.
Basketball: Elvin Hayes, Wes Unseld.
Baseball: Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Tom Seaver, Hammerin' Hank.
Olympics: Bruce Jenner (but not any more, based on recent, ahem, life decisions he's made).
Racing: Mario Andretti, Unser, Sr. (and pre-drunken Little Al).
NASCAR: That articulate, well-spoken guy, with no hick accent . . . . Who was he? Oh, yeah, right. That's why I liked open wheel. Even as a kid who grew up on a farm and was in FFA, it was just too much for me. It' s a lot different now, but back then (early to mid '70s), it embodied every bad Southern stereotype. What's that? Ya say I gotta pick somebody? Well, then, CooCoo Marlin, on the name alone.
