According to Florida Gators reporter Robbie Andreu, a source within the Gators organization has confirmed that QB Jeff Driskel has suffered a significant injury to his left shoulder.
This can't be good for a QB. Might mean the season; most certainly the majority of it, meaning that sophomore Jacoby Brissett will likely be the starter when the Gators visit Knoxville. Even though they appeared deadlocked in the fall camp competition, this does not bode well, especially when considering their depth.

Some additional notes on the QBs:
-Driskel played mostly first half of season, throwing for 148 yards on 16-for-34 on passing attempts and two interceptions with no touchdowns.
-Brissett threw for 206 yards on 18-for-39 on passing attempts with two touchdowns and four interceptions.
-Brissett was used more towards the end of the 2011 season, so his experience in SEC play could give him an edge over Driskel.
Some conflicting reports on Driskel:
"@DerekTysonESPN I'm hearing from a good source that QB Jeff Driskel's shoulder injury is minor. "Small ding...nothing serious." #Gators"
"@RobbieAndreu According to a source close to the UF football team, Jeff Driskel sustained a significant shoulder injury in practice today. Left shoulder."
"Broken scapula on non-throwing left shoulder for #Gators QB Jeff Driskel says @Frank_Frangie."
Hate to see a guy get hurt. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery...if true.
I'm afraid their D line will do backflips over our O line. No way its that easy against the Gators.
I wanted to beat the Gators at full strength but Im not certain he would have been the starter anyway.
Has anybody done backflips over our o-line? Especially when they are playing at home?
I hope the injury is minor and we get them at their best, because we can beat them at their best. That secondary is too small and their offense is too weak.
I hope our O line is very much improved, but they've proven absolutely nothing. They played mediocre to bad last year at home or away. Florida has one of the better D lines in the league. I'm just saying, their offense won't be very good but ours will have a tough time putting up big numbers.
Our secondary is too small??? hahaha see ya in Knoxville bud.
You won last year but thi year could be a different story just sayin not talking smack just know that this isn't the same team and alot better offense than last year and didn't y'all have 50 pass interference penalties against us
UTK, Class of 2009
There are many signatures in the world....this one is mine!
Florida won't be an easy win this season. Regardless of how anemic the offense seems, they still have some speed. And one of the best D-Lines in the nation that has the potential to shut down the run game and put pressure on the pass game
alright we will see ya there
