Gilleslie will play strained groin and jelani Jenkins is out this week as is Riggs !! So they are banged up but we gotta come out and get on them early!!
Got to hope Gilleslie isn't close to 100%. Their offense is much worse without him. He really made an impact when he was on the field vs. aTm and you could certainly see the difference when he wasn't anymore.
Part of me is excited about this but I really just want to beat FL straight up. This gives them excuses all year if we do win.
agreed as this sounds like great news for sure
Gillislee is a big blow to them. I realize they said he'd play, but if he's at 80% or 90%, that's a huge benefit to the Vols.
I'd rather us win and have to listen to excuses than lose and have to live with an "8".
Not saying they have to be banged up for us to win, but I just want the W and injuries are part of football. There isn't an asterisk next to our loss last year just because Hunter went down. It was just a loss. And this could just be a win.
Just win, baby!
I don't care how we beat them either. There have been games in the past, even last year, that I think we lost due to poor calls against us and injuries. It's about time we catch a break against them. It's always sweeter to beat them with their best, but they haven't gotten to do that with us in a while and they seem to brag just as loud as ever.
A. I wish we were playing them at full strength just like I wish we were at full strength.
B. Once the game is over, nobody cares about who played, all that counts is who won. They didn't feel bad about winning last year when Hunter went down, I won't feed bad this year about winning regardless of who plays for UF.
No one's ever at full strength. Always some nagging injuries, etc. We lost last year and had a devastating injury contribute to that, so I dont see any problems with beating them down at less than their best.
Good post UTBdub. FL's loss of Riggs will really hurt their secondary if Safety Josh Evan’s right shoulder injury—suffered during the TX A&M game—has not healed by Saturday.
Riggs was our 4th string Corner.. Behind Roberson,Watkins and Purifoy not too mention Jeremy Brown returned last week so he wil be our 4th Corner this week. And you failed to mention Pop Saunders coming back this week, started last year at FS for several games as a True Freshman. He will be a huge addition to our Secondary. And Josh Evans is fine, will practice today
Its not a stupid question until you ask it.
I think you misunderstood my post 87gator4life. My statement was ENTIRELY based on Josh Evan's injury. If you take the inverse of my statement you will see that my post implies that FL secondary won't be hurt by Rigg's injury if Josh Evans is healthy.

What positions do jelani Jenkins and Riggs play? Are they vital parts of the offense or defense(ie: starters)?
I have included a link on Jenkins and Riggs, respectively.
No. 18 Florida has lost one starting linebacker for a month and another for possibly the entire season.
Get the latest news, stats, videos, and more about Florida Gators defensive back Cody Riggs on ESPN.com.
Jelani Jenkins is a big-time player for us, starts at outside LB. Riggs loss wont hurt us at all
Isn't Powell out for you guys too? What kind of impact does that have?
He has been out since the Spring Game with the ACL, so we've prepared to play without him.SR Larentee McCray took over his spot at the "Buck" position, and Dante Fowler is the backup
To answer some of the questions here, here's my take.
* I actually don't think the Jenkins loss is as big as some Florida fans are making it out to be. Antonio Morrison is a more instinctive player and a more natural playmaker, but obviously he lacks the experience. There really wasn't much dropoff against A&M with Morrison in there, though he overran a gap in the run game once or twice.
* I think Florida fans are underestimating the impact losing Riggs will have. Riggs was playing safety in the nickel package, which Florida has had on the field something like 75-90 percent of the time so far this year. He played it well, and that allowed Elam to slide down to the nickelback spot. Elam is one of the quickest players I've ever seen in terms of reading run-pass from that spot. That means he's pretty good in coverage and great stopping the run out of the nickel. With Riggs out, Elam backs away from the box and Jaylen Watkins steps in at the nickel. Watkins is better in coverage than Elam, but nowhere near as good in the box. So I think it opens up some interesting run possibilities for Tennessee.
87 is right about Pop Saunders coming back, but he has missed two games now and is in the coaches' doghouse. I'm not expecting anything out of him until I see him get back into the swing of things.
