I think this is hilarious. Good for these coaches for speaking their mind about it. They got screwed. Of course, Pearl deserves the ultimate blame for how it all ended, but it is amazing to me that more is not made of Thad, Craft, and tOSU's part in ruining a few careers.

@TonyBasilio: I wonder if Ohio State investigates Wichita State in the offseason? #justsayin'

Their sour grapes over the consequences that resulted from their own actions are irresponsible and immature. Ohio State didn't lie to the NCAA during an investigation. I'm as orange as they come, but these guys need to acknowledge their own culpability and keep their anger to themselves.
While I'm not afraid of downvotes, I am disappointed by those who refuse to look at the truth. We butchered Alabama for hating Fulmer when he turned them in for their NCAA violations. Are we going to act just like those Bama fans, hating Ohio State just because Thad Matta exposed the misconduct of the Vols' coaching staff?
I respect Bruce Pearl's coaching ability. He's what the program desperately needed at the time. But he screwed himself out of the coaching position -- Thad Matta didn't do it for him.
I think this is hysterical. Who cares about who's fault it is or who should take blame or this or that, anyone who hates on Ohio State is funny in my book. Seems to me like Tony Jones just hates Ohio State. Can't speak for the second guy. Basillo is being Basillo.
I'm as big a Vol's fan as anyone, but there isn't a school or fanbase I HATE more than Ohio State. I wanted Wichita State to beat the Buckeyes so badly tonight that they wouldn't accept another invite to the tournament again. I guess a 4 point win is a win and that's all that matters. Let the coaches have their fun, no need to cast shame and disrespect towards the coaches who made us care about basketball in the first place.
I will admit I do hope Aaron Craft has a long and pathetic NBA career as a professional bench-warmer....
This. I despise Alabama so much for the way they acted toward Fulmer when they got busted that I had a hard time not making a nasty comment about Mal Moore croaking.
Pearl's guys aren't doing themselves any favors here.
They actually did lie to the NCAA, hence the football program on probation.... ironic, isn't it.
I agree with your point though, we hurried ourselves in this instance. A simple, "yes, that's at my house" and Bruce is still here.
Dang it's not like Bruce lied to Congress under oath or anything people. He made a dishonest statement to an organization everyone thinks is a joke. He wasn't attempting to buy Craft. Trying to compare what tosu did to us and what Fulmer turned Bama in for is apples and oranges. Lane Kiffin did worse in his first week on the hill and nobody got mad at him until he left for the west coast.
Good comments and for those who criticize them I say, Come on guys, there not a one of you that wouldn't feel the same if you lost your job. Calhoune at Conn. lied and got 20 game suspension. They could never prove Pearl lied but he was man enough to admit it on his own. Tell me one person here who hasn't lied or broke the speed limit and I will say I doubt it. And after all it was about bar b que-ing for a junior, if he was senior it was ok. The crime does not fit the penalty.
I really didn't care Pearl lied at first. A lot of people would lie in that situation, I might myself. My problem with Pearl and when I loss respect for him was finding out he tried to get Craft and his family to lie for him and this is why I don't sit around and pine for him like so many others. The coaches shouldn't post that on twitter. How can you coach young boys and young men how to behave appropriately and tweet appropriately when you yourself tweet whatever pops into your mind and ask families to lie for you. Coaches aren't just doing XOs because soon as there is a dust up with the law we're calling for the coach. Just my two cents...
I thought Spurrier turned in Bama.
Nobody equates Pearl's weenie roast with Bama's Human Slave Trade. We were comparing the attitudes toward the people who turned them in.
Most of you guys are talking about Pearl, but I posted this about the assistants. As I said in my original post, Pearl deserves the ultimate blame for this. He dug his own grave, and he left a millionaire to then land an executive job and a TV gig at ESPN. I have no compassion for him. I like him, but he didn't get an unfair punishment and I don't feel sorry for him.
Forbes, Jones, and Shay I feel differently about. Imagine the situation they were put in. They had been working together with Pearl for years, and they were now all coaching one of the top programs in the country. To do the right thing would mean saying to your boss, the man who had brought you with him to this great job, "no, I won't lie for you. You clean up your own mess." In hindsight, yes, that was the right thing to do, but honestly how many of you would have done that? Plus, I don't think things would have turned out any differently for them. The minute Pearl lied, they were all screwed. If he gets fired, they are all fired whether they lied or not. Now they were forced to take much lower level jobs at a fraction of the pay. I think it was Gary Parrish who wrote a follow up column on them and said Forbes and Shay's families were having to share a tiny apartment because they were basically broke.
They got a raw deal. No other way to put it. Pearl was the nail in their coffin, but tOSU got the ball rolling by being petty and spiteful. I'd be bitter too. If you don't have some compassion on them, I think you're missing the details of the story.
Personally? I have HATED all things Ohio state long before Thad and Aaron. Has nothing to do with them, glad they lost
First of all comparing what Bruce did to what Alabama was doing is apples to watermelons. I realize it was the lie, the cover-up that did Bruce in.. No question CBP did himself in. But there is also no question that Matta,or someone in the OSU clan provided the NCAA with the foto that the NCAA used to set the trap for Bruce. It was the proximate cause that led to the loss we suffered, I suffered , and it is personal for me,b/c Bruce is a friend and in my highly biased opinion, the best thing to happen to UT hoops since Mears, and one of the best things to happen to UT athletics, until, of course, his highly public downfall.
Of course there is no way to prove this but the cynic in me that says every program cheats to some extent, perhaps at least to the extent of something as horrific as having a recruit to a barbecue. Given that assumption, I would bet a dollar to a donut that there is something out there somewhere that Matta did, that he thinks can't be proved, that if he was similarly trapped could be his undoing. No doubt if Bruce had merely admitted this minor infraction we wouldn't be talking about it, but he did and he is long gone. So given that Matta or someone in his realm was the catalyst in causing Bruce to be our ex-coach, I will always enjoy seeing a Matta-coached team, go down in defeat.. I also think Craft got exposed as a nice little college guard, but about as ready for the NBA as Scotty Hopson. He will likely be a coach at some level but not a player at the next.
Again, we're not comparing the infractions, just the reactions against whistleblowers.
"Give him six" "We don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama" "Grit N Grind"
I thought it was funny
