Tonight I am watching my Plano West Wolves (Texas) play the Mesquite SKEETERS.....
That's a top ten one right there.....
Man, you swat a Skeeter aside. I prefer something manly and fearsome, like my alma mater's nickname.
We were the Dragons.
What ever happened to the Fighting Whities? They still have thy nickname?
Edit: just looked it up apparently it was just an intramural league nickname for the University of Northern Colorado. Still funny though

This is a clip of Yuma High Schools football team entering Doan Field.
Skeeter on your Peter thump it off!
There its a high school in Alabama called DAR for daughters of American Revolution. Not sure what their nickname is but I am going with the fighting daughters.
Just Googled them. Tney are the (boring) Patriots.
Them Skeeters are up 10 at half......
I was a Gallatin Green Wave. My wife grew up in a small town in Texas and they were the Porcupines. Right down the street in the next town were the Kangaroos.
Nothing like Texas high school football....
Huge bands and drill teams, Deep in the Heart of Texas at halftime, immensely talented teams, huge stadiums, ....... And the SKEETERS!
I would say some embarrassing names around here would belong to teams like Morristown West, Karns, & Cocke County. My coach at Maryville (Hammontree) used to have fun with their mascot names the whole week leading up to the time we would play them pn Friday. All week long he would get us fired up at practice by screaming out "We're gonna bust them Trojans this week!" (Morristown West) or "We're gonna lick them Beavers!" (Karns) or my personal favorite "We're gonna beat the hell out of them Cocks!" (Cocke County). Hard to keep it serious during practice for sure, but definitely kept us loose.
I'll say that Quarles might be a better X&O coach than Hammontree, but he's not near the motivator or "funny man" Hammontree is, not by a long shot.
