John Clark, an NBC News anchor in Philly tweets that Gruden is meeting with Juan Castillo about joining his staff should he return to coaching. No mention of what team he would be returning to coach. Gruden happens to be in Philly for the MNF game tomorrow night so I don't necessarily think that it suggests he'd be returning to coach the Eagles... although Castillo has been a position coach or coordinator with the Eagles organization for many years until he was fired by Andy Reid.
Castillo's Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Castillo_%28American_football%29
Which means if he comes to TN, Pittman won't be retained.
Is Castillo an OLine coach or a Defensive Coordinator? His bio makes him seem very diverse . . .
Once I read the full story, he is definitely an offensive minded coach . . .

"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
I don't know if that is the case, BUT I do believe that if Gruden comes to UT, that he will likely bring in an entire new staff, minus Graham.
Reid making him a DC was like hiring Sunseri
From the guys at footballscoop.com:
Tennessee: Sources tell us that Jon Gruden remains the primary target. Although we have not verified, sources tell us that Gruden, among other things, has requested a $4 million salary pool for his assistants. Not sure how that works out but we are told that Tennessee will be having discussions with Butch Jones as well.
Personally, I would rather see Pittman retained than Castillo hired. I like Pittman, I know Castillo is a good coach, but these kids like Pittman too. Just my opinion.
Bingo! I've mentioned Castillo on this board before. He is the best O-line coach in the NFL. Would be awesome here, would also lvoe to recruit IMO as he is very personable.
Best in the NFL? Whoa.
i've got one thing to say to hart. JON GRUDEN!!
GO BIG ORANGE!!!
GO BIG ORANGE!!!
I agree with this^^^.
Odd to fire the best lol
He was fired after he was promoted from O-Line coach to DC.
Agree 100%. Pittman has proven himself remarkably and the players love him. Why change?
Wasn't fired get your facts strait.
I'm VERY skeptical about hiring NFL o-line coaches for the college game. NFL coaches teach 2% technique, but sometimes you really do have to bust out a sled and teach kids the feeling of driving a body down field. IMO that position has the biggest change from NCAA to NFL
I will add that I know Juan has an outstanding rep and is a great coach. I just think a college o-line coach knows how to operate more effectively with 18 year olds. I would be curious to see if HH is operating any differently at Notre Dame

Easy answer, VV, is the players don't run the asylum. Coach does, and he paid to make those calls.
Well tell the OP because that's where I saw it. "Straight"
yeah, he was fired Drizzle. Last month. After he was promoted from O-Line coach to defensive coordinator. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8511166/juan-castillo-fired-philadelphia-eagles
He was fired as a DC, not as a OL coach. Reid is an idiot.
I have heard in a few places that Gruden is asking for 4 million just gor his assistants does anyone know if there is any truth tto this
I believe the assistants this year were at $3.2 million so I would say the assistant pool is the least major of things being negotiated.
And our stellar DC, who can't be confirmed as actually having coached this year, was a large piece of that pie.
Thanx I guess I really dont know that much about itcitconsidering when I heard that I thouhht it was a lot
