If what Wes has said is true, then Tee had no other choice. Women are powerful creatures. They have a certain instrument that make even the best of us men do things we normally wouldn't do.
I mean look at MacBeth!
Sorry, having a street named after you should make your pimp hand strong.
"Woman, a street, literally a paved instrument for automated transport, is named after me. Get in the car!"
I think this would have been the appropriate time for Tees first Butch slap :)
It's faith then family then everything else. I hope he makes it home someday.

Funny, no doubt, but still not strong enough to fend off a woman. She would be like, "Yeah, well your son, that I gave birth to, middle name is named after you too so get out of that DAYUM car. We are staying."
She wins. Always.
I don't get why anyone would be mad at Tee. If you're in a position to make that kind of money, you're going to make the best decision for yourself and your family(even if that means he's not wearing the pants in the family.) Tee gave his all for UT... Without Tee Martin, there would no 1998 BCS championship for Tennessee.....
I agree, people should take it easy. The only issue I have is with the quotes these coaches have... "I made a commitment to my players." He made the same commitment to the KY players too, right? If anything, just tell it like it is. "USC right now is a better opportunity," "my wife and family like it here better," whatever.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
I'm very dissapointed Tee is not joining us and wish him the best in his career. That said, he's the one wearing the pants in his family and I'm sure he took his wife and families desires in his decision but make no mistake Tee made this decision. He obviosly feels it's best for him and his family to stay at SC. As he said he feels no significant draw to come back to the southeast and may well picture his path to OC, then to HC being faster and easier out there. We need to value what Tee did for UT(including going to UT and not ALA> or Auburn). He will always be a VFL and we need to consider him as such.Who knows, he may end up back here as OC/HC but I hope HCBJ stays with us both for his sake and ours---it means we are happy with him! For now I'll wis Tee Martins reputation builds but tha we win more of the battles for receivers tha he does and that as good as I hope he does, I hope SC does a lot worse.
Sorry for the mispelling but I have the flu and a concussion 3 days ago. This is a great site and I push it near the Jackson area.
Here's a picture to serve as a reminder for those of you that hate Tee Martin now!
"Give him six" "We don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama" "Grit N Grind"
Let it go. You act like UT should be more important to Tee than anything else! That's just irrational BS. Tee doesn't owe us - - we owe him for what he made happen. Tee should always do what's best for him - and you should do what's best for you. Get over it. Your emotions have carried you over the edge.

Plus he was committed when he got the call. I would have no problem if he turned it down then. In fact, the respect i would have for him would grow for honoring a commitment. He didn't need the trip and the hoopla to say, hey I made a commitment. He made the Vols look bad by coming here. Rename the street.
I've never heard it called an "instrument" before
Actually AO, I believe it is Faith, Family, Country, Big Orange football and then everything else . . .
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
I am sick of all this whining. Rename the street?
I guess Tee Martin didn't set an NCAA record by completing 23 straight passes. I guess he didn't lead Tennessee to its first national championship in the modern era. I guess he did not represent the university with class and style during his four years in Knoxville.
Take it all back because some of our CRYBABY fans are butthurt that the man -- who is grown and is a professional makes a business decision that upsets some of our CRYBABY fans and rejects a job in Knoxville? How is it your business what a grown man with a family decides to do in his personal life? Who gives a big crap that his personal decision upsets your perfect idea of a perfect fanhood?
Grow up. He is a wide receivers coach. This matters NADA in the big scheme of things. Grow a pair and rename yourself!
There, I'm done now. All I want to know is why are so many of our fans 12 years old?

It's Bro's before H*'s. If Kiffin has another bad season or two Tee may be looking for a job. Hopefully, Butch will tell him to call Kentucky back. He wouldn't be welcomed on my staff, he's not the definition of a VFL. JMO.
Love it!! I actually have that one and the copy of peerless catching the long touchdown pass on the cover in a frame side by side! All my friends are LSU fans ( here in lowsyana) so I love being able to remind them where the BCS all started from! Lol! VFL!!
Renaming the street is stupid. So is making any sort of comment about his kids in the area.
Anyone psychoanalyzing him without knowing him is doing so with an agenda.
All I know is it sucks. He would have been a huge asset to the team and the fans would have put him even higher in the pantheon. He had his reasons and nothing will change it now.
While i respect everyones opinion, From what I understood, the trip was more to sell his wife on it. He wanted to make the move but ultimately had to make the tough call when she made it clear she wanted to stay in LA. Nothing wrong with anything he did. Did it make us look bad? Definitely but it was not intentional. He's still a VFL in my book and the majority of the vol nation I bet
The rumor has been out for a while that Tee wanted to come back even before our coach was hired. Sorry but the wife thing is a smokescreen. Hard for me to believe that her wishes were not known way before this. I am sure Tee knows his wife and she knows the area so if she really wanted to stay in LA then he knew that. Tee voted no on our coach and was unsure of the direction of the program even while Kiffin is on shaky ground at USC. I kind of wonder if BJ really wanted Tee in the first place or was this a suggestion from above like keeping Graham. Seems like if BJ had his preference then he goes with a Cinn guy. Sad times.
