I still don't think Gruden is out ifcthe picture
I don't know if that's true or not, but I do think it makes it harder to hire anyone else. Nobody wants to be the guy the fans don't really want. This really is a PR issue whether people want to admit it or not.
I still don't think Gruden is out of the picture
i agree with you ...gruden could have been hired..it was reported it was all done but the staff part
seems he just dont want gruden...not sure why everyone is down voting because it will come out
and hart blowed it...plus 1+ jp
Truly outstanding. +1 and it's not enough.
There is no evidence other than you hoping that Hart took a big swing at Gruden and missed. All we know is there were lots of rumors and apparently it didn't happen. In fact last night it was reported on this website that the problem was actually money and it wasn't until later that evening when people started getting mad that Wes suddenly comes back with new sources saying "Oh no, it wasn't money, it was that Gruden didn't want it". You honestly think this whole thing was made up? They talked, they didn't come to an agreement, and now it's probably over. That's all we know. John Brice came straight out and said last night when this whole thing was blowing up that if they hired Gruden it would be against Hart's wishes. I don't understand how anyone with a brain can look at this and just accept what is being said today on its face value.
The evidence clearly points toward Hart never being onboard with going after Gruden. We can move on now and hope we land a great coach, but that doesn't change anything about what happened in the last 72 hours.
There are a huge group of people on this website who seem to get a kick out of going after anyone who says things aren't rainbows and lollipops, but I just don't see how you can look at the preponderance of evidence and pretend like "well, we gave it a shot and it just didn't work out". Trying to put the best possible spin on it to make yourself feel better seems pointless to me.

The majority you are speaking of, is actually the majority that waits until facts are presented and then makes a calculated judgement, based on facts. As of right now, there aren't many facts. So I will wait until I know more about what actually happened before I draw my conclusion on the situation and how Hart handled it.
You have no evidence, you have your version of speculation you are using for your typically negative argument. The only real statement in your post is: All we know is there were lots of rumors and apparently it didn't happen, After that your argument turns to how you want to use the rumor mill to support your agenda. Bottom line is few know the real details of what transpired. Other bottom line is the question is: did Tennessee get turned down by Gruden or did college football via the TN situation?
Uhm... the OP gave exactly the reasons I expected.
Sorry, but until we know any of the crap that's been floating around has been factual... Dave Hart doesn't even deserve any crap. Now if we go out and hire a nobody, or start getting rejected by a bunch of candidates then I'll change my tune. But you don't fire a freaking AD because he wasn't able to land a Super Bowl winning coach.
Have any of you considered the possibility that Hart didn't bungle anything? That perhaps Gruden was promised an NFL job as soon as the season is over? Gruden's agent may have just been trying to cover Hart's ass because they knew a lot of our fans would be mind-blowingly irrational about the whole thing.
