The place for inside information on the Tennessee Vols

Have we already lost this weekend ?

  • I hope the players aren't on any message boards. If so, why would they even bother showing up this weekend ? Their coach is "obviously gone" and winning this weekend apparently "means nothing for this program". I'm not talking about everyone on this site, but some are acting as if we have already fired Dooley. I understand that being unhappy with a coach does not mean that you will not support your team, and entertaining a notion that we could possibly have a Super Bowl winning coach in Knoxville is fun and exciting. But some of this is just getting ridiculous. I am by no means asking everyone to stop speculating and stop thinking about what could be, but just don't let your dreams get the best of you.

Many people have made some great points as to how we could acquire Gruden. But this season is NOT over ! I get the frustration with Dooley and I am not defending him. But what I am doing, is simply stating that he is still our coach. All of this talk about Gruden just brings to light just how impatient we are as a fan base. Myself being one of them. I can't help but laugh when I recall all the comments saying that this is a 4-5 year rebuilding project and how all the unbiased point of views saw us going 7-5. We are heading directly toward a possible 7-5 season. People are assuming we lose to USCe, Missouri, and Vandy. Are you kidding me ? Yes those will be tough games, but we are giving up too early. I also understand the business talk and the empty seats. If we beat USCe, Neyland will have less empty seats. That will at least shed a little light on our program, and possibly relieve Dooley of about 6 monkeys crawling on his back. Beating USCe could mean everything.

Regardless, the media and our fans have already spoken. Hopefully Dave Hart will make the correct decision, what ever that is.

  • Starry-eyed Vols fans sick for a win against a nationally ranked program are feasting on unsubstantiated rumors. All hope for the current season is lost. No one will spend their hard earned money to support a losing team and a crappy coach. All these and more are the feelings drifting across the volunteer state.

Chill, A$$holes. The OP has made a lovely point and there are other good points going around amongst the faithful. This too shall pass. These kids have familes. These coaches are people too. No one is saying what they're doing on the football field is okay, but try not to let your self-importance come before the team. It would be nice if we acted like a family and attempted to lift our beleagured team up to success instead of throwing them and the coaching staff under the bus. At the end of the season we may have to make a change, but if you're that irate about the state of affairs surrounding UT football I'd prefer if you'd go hide under a rock until the sun comes out so that I can support my family Vols without all the hate and disfunction.

  • It seems to have calmed down a little bit. People might just be at work though haha.

I just don't want everyone to get their hopes up and then have them dashed once again, possibly leading to an outrage. I'm ready for Saturday !
