But still thought it would make for good discussion ...
Petrino to auburn
Cutcliffe to Kentucky
Strong to Arkansas
If Strong is an option we better jump on him if we don't get Gruden. I think Arkansas will get Tuberville.
Not sure any of those are a upgrade from Dooley for various reasons
Cutcliffe sounds pretty comfortable at Duke.
Please elaborate on why exactly none of these would be an upgrade over Dooley. I agree on Cutcliffe, but Petrino or Strong would be a huge upgrade.
Doubt cut would leave duke for ky
IMO, Chizik's buyout is too much not to give him one more year, though it be painful.
Kentucky might be a good fit for Cut if he's interested in moving.
Strong will have his pick of schools when he's ready. He's a guy I wouldn't mind UT going after.
I think the Strong prediction is complicated b/c I dont believe Tom Jurich will allow Charlie Strong to leave without a fight. Speicifically, the Louisville AD stated that they are willing to make Strong the highest paid coach in America if that is what it takes to keep him at Louisville. I for one don't think the AD's statements were just rhetoric.
After defeating Cincinnati 34-31 in overtime on Friday night, Louisville is 8-0 for the first time since Bobby Petrino scuttled on the sideline.
They said there was a connection with Barnhardt and Cut
Petrino is scum and I just don't see Strong being a huge upgrade. He is a good coach who went 7-6 the last two years and the level of competition in that league is horrid.
Cutcliffe would be a definite upgrade. Not saying I want Cutcliffe, but he is an upgrade.
Strong would recruit so much better then Dooley has. He has himself an undefeated team to. Sign him up.
Auburn posters on the Blue Board are saying the Auburn mods say Petrino is not likely to be at Auburn.
I believe Cutcliffe commented last week that Duke was patient with him for the last 4 year's and wouldn't turn his back on that.
I could see Strong at Arky. He's from Arkansas.
If strong went 7-6 his first two years at UT he would be on the hot seat too. The fanbase is too impatient to hire anyone who doesn't have an amazing résumé.
I completely understand if what you are saying is that you wouldn't want any of them for various reasons, but I believe most reasonable people would consider all coaching upgrades.

Are you positive?
100%, 95% of the board would agree to.

I am saying go big- where there is no doubt or don't go at all.
I doubt the second part- you can't get 95% to agree on anything
I'm in this camp. Go Big or stick with what we have.
Put me down in the 5% that don't agree. Not saying you're wrong, I just don't see it.
True. But Strong has great ties throughout the SEC, particularly Florida. He's actually coached a a side of the ball which Dooley didn't even do. His success is costing Joker Philips his job. Louisville doesn't have a lot of resources. It's not a "football" school. The previous 2 years at Louisville the school went 4-8 and 5-7. His toughness and demeanor is something Vol fans would really relate to and appreciate.
I don't want any doubts if replacing Dooley

So what would you say if we lose 1 of the next 4 and Gruden doesn't come here, keep Dooley?
I'm with Drizzle (don't tell anybody :) ) but strong is a young coach with sec ties and well know DC whose players really like him not to mention that a young black coach can make some in roads with guys that some can't and that's truth whether it should be looked that way or not
Not ready to face that scenario- I think we win the final four all by double digits.
