I have no idea how rights to radio shows work. However, if it could work someone should take a frequency in Nashville and put together a selection of sports shows from Knoxville to simulcast. They could be from multiple stations, and put the lineup together from, say 6 am to 6pm. Pay the stations for the simulcast and sell advertising to make it a money making venture.
Just an idea. Both of the main stations here are in James Franklin's shorts.

That's what a radio network is all about.
It would be most welcome to combat all the Plaster talk about hockey, the incessant yak yak about the NFL salary cap and the ever-present Jas Franklin.
That said, whenever I'm I'm Knoxville I always run into calls from some poor guy who has a horrible stammer and will go on for ten minutes at a time. Don't know his name but he is a regular and they let him flail on endlessly. Hard to listen to.
For the record, overall, I like Nashville sports talk better than Knoxville sports talk. But I'm also not looking to hear a bunch of UT talk all the time the way you guys probably are.

You can always download the radio station apps from 100.3 and 99.1 by knox apps they are freaking awesome. Stream the radio shows and live textbox during the shows. I quit listening to 105.1 out of chattanooga after Bonsanto and Jesse left. Beat Jesse(the producer) in their fantasy football league so bad he quit and moved back to Florida. Then Nick got a gig in Vegas and left and their replacements...well couldnt bail water with a good bucket. Not to mention they were jerks when I called in more than once in a 3 hour show. No reason to be an @ss about it like your some bigtime show.
Haven't listened to jim gumm that's there now, and dont care
Ya it's hard, but dont hate on a speech impedament. Poor guy is a huge Vols fan and that all i got to know to show him some love and patience. Takes courage to call in like he does.
Not me. I couldn't listen to all Vols all the time like they do in Knoxville, but I would like more than we get in Nashville.
Ain't hating on him but damn, don't call a talk show every day if you can't talk.
How dare you! Who do you think you are, some unbiased media member, or something?! For shame!
For the record, I have Sirius/XM with ESPN Radio in the cars and have the TSR app on the droid (you're welcome for the plug, Mr. Rucker). I live in Johnson City, too, so I have no other choice...

Yep, the Sports Monster has become brutal to listen too.
I agree that these guys are hard to listen too.
I have always thought it couldn't get worse. Then, it gets worse.
TSR app is all u need.
Ryan, if I could gift you my Sirius XM account during the day so you could listen to the other stuff I would, because, to be honest, since TSR came into existence in its current form it is the soundtrack of my life...EXCEPT TB's show- I love constant UT talk, but only from people who are informed.
The TSR model of using former players who can break down a game and land interviews with former Vols is perfect for a disgustingly obsessed fanatic like me. My love for TSR is that it really is constant Vol talk. The TSR app is awesome.
The "other" Knoxville sports radio station is a different story. Whenever people are talking on that station I ask myself, "Do they not have access to Google?". Lots of time spent discussing things that are irrelevant before the conversation begins.
My issue with Nashville radio, particularly 104.5, however, is not that it isn't constant Vol talk- there's much more for a station in that market to cover. My issue is that our "flagship station" devotes a significant amount of time to a show/shock jock that mocks our program relentlessly for sport.
I know this isn't necessarily how it works, but when it came time to renegotiate that contract if I were in the UTAD this would be a point of contention for me. I don't expect everyone to blatantly lie about our weaknesses, but the relentless tearing down of the program linked to your station's success in an attempt to create ratings is over the top to me.

"Count it down with me. Five, four, three, two, one.
The national champion is clad in Big Orange!"
Only about 1 guy in Nashville knows UT sports and is at least fair........I cant wait til the others are exposed and made to look like fools and are gone. When UT is back every year competing for the east and Vandy is the same ole Vandy....they all have zero cred.
I think Ryan just called out Swain and Rucker, among others...
Your team. All the time.
I'll hang up and listen.
To be fair, the "shock jock," which I see as a very fair term to describe him, mocks several other programs for sport as well. What bothers me is the people who are up in arms when he goes on and on ranting about Tennessee's downfall and Vandy's uprise. Those people, and I include several of my friends in that category listen to every word of every show. That's the point of all of it. If you don't like what they say then change the station. If you hit them where it hurts then the bashing will stop. I listen to the James Franklin interviews because they are hilarious and I use his quotes for banter on my show. I can't seriously believe he thinks Vanderbilt is a contender in the East, now or ever. Vanderbilt is in for a rude awakening when they start 1-6 or 2-5 this season. So those of you are irritated with it, just buy your time right now, and prep for some crow eating....if Franklin is man enough to call in.
