Honor the Contract Vol Fans

  • If I did not believe that Dooley wants to win as much as I do, or any other VFL, I would not say "fulfill our promise to the man." He took on a depleted team and it will take two or three more years before I am ready to say he's the wrong HC. He deserves the full support of all true Vol fans.

What decent coach would want this job if we fired him now?

  • I posted this in another thread:
We live in a "now" society where everyone wants instant results, but what Dooley inherited was simply awful to say the least. Some look at Meyer at Fla. and Saban at Bama, Chizik at Auburn and think why can't Dooley do what they did in their 2nd year. It's a simple answer really: MAYBE 3 or 4 of the players inherited by Dooley from Fulmer and Kiffin, could be in the 2 deep at those programs, the rest he came to inherit wouldn't even sniff the field at said schools. If Coach Dooley keeps recruiting well then IMO, 2 to 3 more classes and we will compete with the rest of the SEC. I only hope that the right people realize this and will be patient with CDD and give him the time he needs to replenish our beloved UT VOLS with the talent to compete. Go vols

Well said, ocoee. It is the power brokers that make these contracts come and go. Hopefully, Hart will be a great leader/AD for us and help Dooley & Co. steer through this very difficult time.

OT: Also very happy to read that the Ocoee Rver will now support aquatic life after 10 yrs. Glad you got yourself cleaned up! biggrin

I agree with at least 2-3 more years.

Agreed with your question, also. No one wanted this job when Dooley took it. Who would we be able to get today even if Dooley left for USC tomorrow (and wasn't fired)? I suspect there's not that many Saban's or Chizig's out there -- and even Spurrier has taken how many years to rebuild S. Car (who even now can't really be said to be competing for SEC titles, much less national's)? And he took over some of Lou Holtz's recruits and so didn't start from zero like Dooley did at UT.

  • I have seen absolutely nothing to indicate that CDD is not the right man for the job. We are headed in the right direction and i plan on enjoying the ride. It'll take another couple of years, but i plan on reminding everybody that i called it from day 1. We will be back on top of the mountain soon.
