Not a lot of head coaches would endorse their star DC for a league competitor, especially when LSU's strength is defense. He should be on the list for head coach. period. Unfortunately he probably won't be because Hart wants a guy w/ head coaching experience. I think he would do an awesome job.
Want to get your guy a pay raise or extension like you just got? Promote the name of your guy for another job.
GrillMaster for a dozen total companies and 3 Time World Champion Steak Coach
Maybe he's tired of 3rd and Chavis (3rd and Chavis > 3rd and Sunseri).
True but he didn't have to do that at all. You don't see many head coaches doing that.
I never thought Chavis wanted to be a HC. That was my impression anyway. Maybe he's changed his mind and needs to get his name out there.
Anyway, I agree it's nice of Les to give him an endorsement.
Ha! I'd take the so called third and Chavis any day compared to what we saw this year. Sunseri had guys out there completely lost on 3rd down which resulted in a conversion regardless of the situation. Chavis relaxed pressure at times that allowed for some conversions too but not at the rate and severity that we saw this year. One is a calculated move that sometimes work and sometimes doesn't. The other is having no clue what to do to stop a 3rd and 17. Even with the slow secondary there is no excuse for what went on. D2 defensive guys could manage 3rd and 17!
I think if Tennessee came to him, offered him a reasonable contract he would absolutely do it. It's no secret this is his home.
I've always liked Chief and even in his days of Third and Chavis I always thought he was the best coach out there.
If we get to the coordinator stage I'd prefer him over Smart and probably Roman.
I think he still bleeds orange and is a VFL.
