I have decided not to post much BUT

  • I really wanted to today because of the success or lack thereof that we saw today, depending on how you look at it.

First, I really hope people understand that there is no way to judge Butch Jones and his staff based off of today. I know it may not seem like we have a recruiting powerhouse because of the losses, but there is a chance that we have a very strong recruiting staff. Someway, somehow, Jones got us in conversation with a lot of big name people, it was just a little too late to start on them. Coach Thig, Coach Graham, Coach Martinez, and Coach Elder seem to be some of the most respected recruiters out there. So, we need to be patient on this front.

Second, please do not forget, we may have done the hardest part of recruiting, and you can ask Texas how important this is: landed a program changer QB. I know we have been spoiled in the past with our QB success, but we have to remember that our great run in the 90's came at a time where Shuler, Manning, and Martin held down the fort in an amazing way at the QB position. I realize that Bray is a NFL Qb, but, if Coach Jones is a good Coach, then getting Dobbs could be the thing that propels TN into another stratosphere. Texas has struggled ever since it lost McCoy because it never had the LEADER that they needed.

Thirdly, this is a tough day to swallow on some account, but there are a lot of TN boys that will be suiting up for us next year, as walk ons and as signees, and that is great to see.

There is a lot of work to do, but it is important to understand that a lot of the foundation has been put down for the 2014 class, and it will only go up. Go VOLS, VFL
