No he is part of the reason we are here. I am sure that isnt what some want to hear but he got lazy in recruiting in the end which resulted in the poor senior class Dooley inherited... just saying..
Nope. Good in his day, but been there, done that.
If we fire Dooley Monday I'd let Phil coach the rest of the season. It would be an honor to watch him coach again. But give him the job long-term? No chance.
If he brought in Chavis and a great oc I would
Absolutely not. Don't let the illusion of the glory days past fog the truth of his tenure. His heyday came at a time where he benefitted from the conference not being nearly as competitive as it is today. As soon as guys like Tuberville, Richt, Meyer, Saban, etc joined the party there was a little bit of a market correction in which he was given a long time to recover and re-establish our position among the elite and he could not do it. Do we not remember what it was like the last several years? And having the right staff? He has had excellent staffs throughout, the problem was not his staff, it was him.

Maybe not wnat the man back I am up in air about it. But why so much hate for the man Fulmer he has accomplished more in football than anyone on this board ever will. Every school has a down time and when he started having his tenure we scream fire him just like we did Johnny Majors and now how we are doinf Dooley. Wow I see a pattern here maybe let Hart and university decide. As we all know opinions are like -------every body has one whether they matter or not
I'd take him back if he hired Gruden to be the head coach for him.
Yes and NO
He's ALL VOL
Did he learn from what got him fired?
We don't know since he hasn't coached since we fired him.
Probably would excite 50/50 of the fan base
Don't know how much recruits would love it.
Dooley or bust next year.
Phil will still be there next year if no one else wants the job...
No. He got fired for under-performing on the job, no reason to rehash. We haven't moved forward since then, and until we do, we will suffer as a program. Every single fan needs the type of coach they can believe in, and leave the past alone.
Believe that we had him but when he wanted to hand pick his staff AD-Hamilton said he had to keep one or two guys and CDC said no it is his way or no way...see how he has done at Duke maybe he shuold have been given the keys...
UT needs a coach that's going to work like a mad man to improve this team. You can't "work like heck" and succeed in the SEC anymore.
Why do people keep going back to this? No teams hired him for a reason. He should not even be an option.
I don't think it would work if we care about winning the remaining games this season. If Dooley gets fired tomorrow, the guy who gives us the best chance of winning against Vandy is Dooley. If Dooley doesn't finish the year, it would have to be Chaney. I don't think there would be enough time for Fulmer to prepare, since he hasn't coached in four years (especially with Dooley's staff and mostly Dooley's players).
