Strong, I believe he is the most realistic option.
"Never take for granted what it means to be a Volunteer." Peyton Manning
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.
Charlie Strong because he is a great recruiter. And one interesting fact is that all 3 seasons he has been at Louisville his teams have been over 2.5 GPA. Sounds just like Coach Martin and look how successful he has been so far.
Updated unofficial scorecard:
1. Strong - 17
2. Stoops - 8
3. Petrino - 3
4. Fedora - 2
5. Roman - 1
6. Fisher - 2
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
Strong. The things people question about him are more about people being unaware of how AWFUL Louisville was when he arrived. Was a world class dumpster fire. Kragthorpe destroyed any progress made by Petrino anda shredded the roster. Strong got them playing like this in his third year. I know he's not playing an SEC schedule, but he's also not beating people with an SEC roster. He's outcoached people and recruited circles around is competition to create roster. His kids love him. Add his SEC experience and he's as close to a safe bet as there is IMO. Perhaps even safer than Chuckie- whom I still list as my number 1.
"Count it down with me. Five, four, three, two, one.
The national champion is clad in Big Orange!"
Fisher would be a very close second. Stoops, if realistic, would be third.
Does anyone know why Strong never got any traction at Florida? I know he's still hugely popular down there, and you'd think after letting Stoops get away they would have wanted to give him a shot. Really does seem odd.
Mullen ... I got no problem being in the minority on him ... I love the guy
Coach Charlie Strong.
"Playing no favorites and sparing none, Reggie White was a quarterback's worst nightmare."
Strong, no doubt
...for the dv'ter
He is the most proven. I would want him to commit to D first and foremost and then running the ball and prove that in his plan for recruiting and who is on his staff.
Gruden 1... Strong 1a
So strong pretty much wins by a landslide I am now convinced the only two people that restore this program almost imediately is Gruden or Strong anyone else is a bust IMO.
