Assuming a lot of the information swirling about a Gruden announcement coming this week was true, I think it would be more than ideal if Dave Hart worked it out to have Gruden announce his move ON Monday Night Football.
Once again ASSUMING Gruden took the job, he would have to sign off/inform viewers that it was indeed his last MNF telecast /w Tirico and that his season was being cut short. How amazing would it be if Hart or whatever powers that be were able to pull some strings and have Gruden announce it DURING the telecast?
Tirico: "So Coach, you have something to tell us?"
Gruden: "Well Mike, I'm going to be taking my talents to the University of Tennessee. They got a lot of tradition over there, what with the Peyton Mannings and the Al Wilsons and I'm just excited to get started."
Talk about a public relations dream come true. How many recruits (commits and non-commits) watch MNF every single week?
Just saying: I think it would be a brilliant behind-the-scenes move and honestly, very plausible as well.

I think there would be some "unfair recruiting advantage" there
He could do anything he wanted on there as long as he didn't talk about specific recruits. I mean, how many current coaches do analyst work for ESPN on off weeks? Gruden's position isn't significantly different in the eyes of the NCAA.
Not sure how ESPN would feel about him doing that.
I think Gruden has made it clear that he wants to finish the season on MNF. He may make an announcement, but I wouldn't expect him to cut his season short.
I'd rather just not find out it was a violation and have to say Oops. Pretty sure we don't have any more "my bads" in the NCAA bag.
Sounds nice, but I seriously doubt ESPN woukd go for that, unless it was the last week of the season. Even then, I doubt it. The talk has been that they would not be happy if he leaves.
It would be nice if he just wore a UT tie even before announcing but I'm sure they wouldn't allow that either.
No more unfair than when espn runs a special program on a particular team.
I hear voices sometimes too!
Looked like an Auburn tie tonight... acckkkkkk
