My apologies for "one of those" posts, but I am giving you the opportunity to tell me what I need to know.
When do "insider" posts from the staff get posted? Who do I stay away from? Who do I decide to "run with"?
What does every "newbie" need to know here at 247?
Thanks, and I look forward to settling in here.
Welcome, Fed. Wes, Ryan and I post pretty much all the time. We pride ourselves in our interaction with you guys.
The other great thing is there are few - if any - posters to stay away from. If you find one, click on the "Ghostbusters" symbol under their avatar and you can ignore them. You won't see their posts.
Folks rave about our mobile site, our board functionality is explained with some icons at the bottom of the page.
I'm sure dozens will welcome you shortly and tell you plenty of things I didn't mention.
Thanks for giving us a try!
Your team. All the time.
FedVol, New updates are always pinned to the top of the board every day. Wes/Ryan/Kevin have something new everyday. Most popular feature is the VIP on Mondays. Coaching search updates are usually once a night. Friendly discussion is everyday. Again welcome and a +1 to get you started. Go
There are only four answers to any question: Yes, No, I don't know, or the Correct Answer.
Mobile site? Yeah, I'm gonna need to use that one!
I dunno if anyone remembers the site, but the message board here reminds me of the OLD utvols.com message board before "Jake Johnson" ruined it. Seems like a good tight "family atmosphere".
So someone explain this rating system to me, or point me in the direction of a thread or something that explains it. I hate to ask questions that are answered somewhere else.
Welcome Fed to the CheckerBoard. +1 to get you started. My advice would be to just enjoy the board. There are not too many trolls on here or flame fests. When a troll does venture in, it usually becomes a very funny thread - there are some witty guys and gals on here.
Now, tell us: Is Gruden going to be the next coach?
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
Thanks again Viking.
I actually think that Gruden IS gonna be the guy. I know people are worried about timing and all, but one of the things that sticks out in my mind is the recruiting test from the NCAA.
I would think that with Gruden, and the staff that he would put together being guys not currently in NCAA, that you would have a period of time that it would take to hammer out deals, then once that is done, get them to take the test, and pass it, and for there to be enough of those guys "in pocket" to be able to come forward with an announcement so that they can hit the recruiting trail before the dead period on Dec 16th.
I would think that Hart would want the current staff to stick around and be those contacts for recruits for as long as possible up to the time that enough of the "Gruden Gurus" are on board and ready to roll.
Just my .
If you click on the green arrow in the original post on a thread it "rates" the thread with an up vote. If you click the red arrow on a post it is a "down vote." When threads get rated, you can see the amount of votes on the topics page so you can get an idea of which threads are liked the most and disliked the most.
You can also up vote or down vote any post - and that rating reflects on the user/poster who made that post. We have filters on the board so you can follow certain posters with certain ratings, etc. There will be more coming with up votes and down votes in the future.
You also have to "earn" your down votes by using your up votes. This prevents people from just being haters all day and down voting everything in site. You get 25 "participation" votes per day, but you can't down vote more than 5 times per day. That could also change going forward, but that's how it works now.
You can also ignore posters by clicking on the ghostbusters symbol in their avatar, and you can send individuals private messages (that the board won't see) by clicking on the little white envelope in their avatar. When you have a private message sent to you, the number will show in your inbox at the top right of the site.
YOu can click on sig filed and photos inserted into threads and they will enlarge. Also, if there is a thread with a lot of photos - like a game day tailgate thread or something, you can see EVERY photo in that thread by clicking on the first picture and then just using the "right arrow" to scroll through all the photos in that thread. There is no need to open and close each post in the thread to see the photos. It's a very cool features.
Think this sums up a few more things, and again - check the board legend at the bottom of the page. The green envelope thing is really cool - I'm not sure how we survived on message boards without it!
Welcome to the CheckerBoard FV. GO VOLS!
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
Welcome post often.
Stay away from Rodbeazy and Mac B. Just joking guys.
Most of the people are great. No real bad ones as of yet. Rexvol has taken a beating for a while
to the board, FedVol! Happy to have you here!
Please post often!

So what happens when I "Follow User"? Do I get their posts separated from others, a notification when they post?
Welcome Fed. I belong to two other sites and this is the best one by far. The more we have on here posting, the better it is, so post away!
I have only been here a few days. So far, it is informative with no cussing or name calling. Nice change.
Welcome home FedVol. Post early and often. We try and follow the Golden Rule as much as possible. Minimal trolling, minimal namecalling, and that generally leaves everyone happy. We don't always agree, but when we don't it generally remains civil. If not, we normally police ourselves pretty well. The mods do a good job of locking or deleting "undesirables".
I like the no name calling and the overall respect that most posters generally show to others here
You can actually filter the board to show you only posters you follow.
