Someone please talk me out of it.
He is horrible
I mean he talks a good game and fooled me, but I haven't seen anyone else this bad at their job.
I don't know if he's the worst, but it's very apparent why he hadn't gotten a DC job in almost 15 years.
I'm not sure he is the worst of all time. But, if you are talking about Tennessee only, then I believe you are correct. This is the worse defense I've ever seen at Tennessee and I've been following them as a fan since 1956.
I just don't understand how the middle of the field is ALWAYS wide open
It's not Sal, dangit its the freaking players, we only have about 5 players worth a dime on defense, the rest at best are backups, mcneil has the most upside in secondary, that's it the rest ore horrible. You can't take a knife to a gun fight, and expect to win. That's what we do week in and week out defensively, and anyone who doesn't see that is blind!
Yes i think he is.
Please tell me what player put one safety deep on 3rd and goal from the 26 yard line. Please tell me how that's a player issue. I agree we are not there with our roster, but you can't say he's calling good games. He's just not. With Wilcox Dooley no doubt keeps his job. Not saying he's for sure fired but this guy is not helping him keep it.
Sorry, but I believe you are incorrect. I believe the responsibility lies solely at the feet of Sal.
Sal is terrible and anyone that can't see that based on the lack of containment on the qb keeper for a touchdown is blind. Just awful!
Wilcox looks like Einstein compared to Sal.....
I've always thought he looks like Kevin from The Office. Now I'm thinking he's about as smart as Kevin too.
First of all, you are just hearing what's said on tv, second of all if you noticed there were to people at the ball when it was caught, which means two people were there. Not to mention we have yet to have a game where we go without an alignment issue. If he is so bad why would Saban hire him, and why would he be an nfl coach. Funny thing we lost the same games with Wilcox as DC.
It's possible, definitely the worst at ut
He may not be the worst of all time(at Tennesee at least) but he's in the discussion.
IT TAKES NO TALENT TO HUSTLE
He wasn't that great at Alabama A&M either.
worst defense in fbs......thats a fact.... so yes he is the worst
I think you mean Buddy Hackett, don't you?
I see you can provide input when you've already heard this from the announcers, nice! are you sure Sal called the defense and it wasn't one of our players misaligned?
Thanks for the only smile I've had all day. +1
No way we'll know about Sal unless he gets a second year, but this I do know--this is likely, at least, the worst defense for a single season in UT history. The numbers are simply astonishing.
Because we've had a good (although we need a new, ahem, CLUTCH for it!) offense, and thus have only suffered a single blowout to the best team in the country, just how bad our defense has been ironically hasn't been as glaring as it would have been if we had lost all our losses by, say, 21 or more points.
Doesn't matter, though. Bad is bad on D, and we're not getting better; we're getting worse (I originally typed "worser" there. Freudian slip? ).

"Bravely taking to his feet, he beat a very brave retreat." Sir Robin's Minstrels.
That had to be the easiest touchdown in the history of football. There wasn't even a fake to bite on... It was terrible defense.
So true, I have had the same thoughts...
He should be fired right now. Horrible hire by Dooley.
