I like the checkerboard on the undershirt sleeves, anywhere else it could look tacky.

It's ok but the helmet isn't the only thing wrong with that uniform, just one of many.
All the people who say Bama and ND haven't changed isn't paying attention to anything. Bama had its "combat"jersey and ND changed the color of their helmets. The gold they had on their helmets 10 years ago is not the same gold they use now. Now it's more of a metallic gold. And they also have their green shamrock jersey they sport for big games. So yeah all tradition schools change at some point.
I say we wear all orange for the home games and all white with orange shoulders for away games.

I bet they don't have old fogeys that refuse to stand and cheer during their games, trying to impede progress. I guess change is really scary though sometimes.
We don't traditionally do that but I think it would be pretty cool to change it up like that
Yeah it's not a huge change but its something different that's not way out of the ordinary.
I just don't know how I feel about this...
There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction. - Winston Churchill
I'm also a traditionalist, also agree the black / orange unis were great. But, black / orange is the traditional color for Halloween so it fit perfectly for the occasion. I would like to see them do something different for 1 game, THAT the players would like to do... Give the team some options and have fun for a game... Not against any SEC rivals though. I have some orange and navy blue sweatshirts and polos, I would like to see them do something with the orange / blue theme one day...
JIMO, Go Vols
It was Halloween!!! And we were the only team in the NCAA that could pull it off and have fun... NEVER would I want to see this another time, but that night it worked... IMO
I like that idea. Not a fan of the check number thoughts, but I did like the checkerboard under shirts /sleeves Bray and a few guys wore... Might get a lot of flack for this, but I, personally, do not like the all orange unis...
Yes I remember it was Halloween that doesn't mean the football team dressing like jack o'lanterns is ok. And I have to disagree with you they didn't pull it off that night, it was a mess...IMO.
I agree it was a mess; from what I recall it was decided late in the week that they would be wearing those, and they were hastily made overnight somewhere locally, and it definitely showed. I think they could have done a much better job, a college football uniform shouldn't be decided on/produced on a whim.
You're correct it was decided late and that rushed produced definitely showed. I also agree with your other point about decisions on a whim especially a program with a storied tradition. Kinda makes you wonder would Kiffin had made that decision, even thought about it at USC. That uniform is just another stain on his short time here. IMO.
