Do you think he is a real candidate? Would be a great hire
I don't think he and the FSU brass get along....then again who does get along with the FSU brass. I think Auburn is the one to watch with him.
Why would Jimbo leave the talent rich state of Florida to coach at Auburn, in the same state as Nick Saban or to coach in a talent starved Tennessee? He has things rolling at FSU, no need to leave the state of Florida for any program. He has it made in the ACC at FSU, and that conference presents a much easier path to the National Championship Game.

Great point I think Auburn is after Patrino. I don't see him leaving but yes he would be an absolute homerun
he spent 6 years there and is known by boosters. his wife graduated from there. he isn't fond of Tallahasseee and some FSU folks are not fond of him, FSU has not addressed items they agreed to address, facility wise and he can likely get more money elsewhere (makes 2.2 million)
few things I've heard

Jumbo is the Mack brown of the acc. Do less with more. I would hate this hire
This is all wrong
Not even close.
I was at the FSU game against Virginia Tech last Thursday night in Blacksburg (only a 1hr 45 min drive for me), and judging by the number of FSU fans in the stadium I would say that everybody seems pretty happy in Tallahassee right now. We were scratching our heads by the play calling of both teams though. FSU finished with -15 rushing yards and I wasn't sure what both coaching staffs were thinking at times? I didn't walk away that impressed by Jimbo.
Jimbo and the brass is the real issue there. Also they have failed to upgrade facilities, etc. I think he will be looking to exit with Auburn as the leader but I would expect us to be in the picture as well. We will most likely have to outbid Auburn if we want him.
Don't discount the Dave Hart connection here. Supposedly they're pretty close and get along great.
That might be the biggest factor at play here. Assuming the rumblings about a rift between Fisher and FSU are accurate, that relationship with Hart might just be the deciding factor from both parties.
If Jimbo wants to leave FSU and it comes down to us and Auburn, he'll end up here bc of Dave Hart. They're very close and have a great relationship.
Dave Hart was the one that advocated Jimbo as "head coach in waiting" at FSU as well. So in essence, he hired Jimbo at FSU if you think about it.
Fisher has ties to Auburn as well, if the money was equal between UT and Auburn, IMO, he'd choose Auburn.
Your team. All the time.
Thanks for sharing LWS. You're like EF Hutton. +1
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
I'm not sure about that..
fisher came in 2007.
hart announced resignation in May of 2007 effective at year end.
fisher was named HCIW in december 2007 so sounds strange that outgoing AD would influence that. especially one at odds with administration..
you might be right. I'm speculating based on timelines.
I think he would get a call.........not sure he deserves one.
You might be right. I wasn't sure of the timeline of when Hart left and Fisher got there. I do think someone in the admin pushed for Fisher as HCIW but it may not have been Hart.
