does anyone think the fact that we could be bring in both Kelly and Berry next year played into Bell's decision? it hurts losing out on Bell however, we could end up as good or even better on the back end of the D.
I don't think so. I think it was a man named urban, saying look at what I did at Florida, now just imagine doing that every year you are here, it's way easier to do it here than at Florida. Come be a bucks nut with me.
Not one bit. It was only about 12-0 and former titles vs 5-7 and 5-7 and a brand new staff of unknowns that did all they could.
Bell is a much better player than Kelly Jr.
I don't disagree but in time with proper coaching/development who knows....? does Kelly have an upside that is yet to be developed? could he get that much better? is Bell at his peak and Kelly a ways to go? questions that will only be answered in time. I wanted Bell as much as anyone and yes he is a great player. BUT, let's check back on this in a coule of quick years and see what happens. you never really know how just how thiese kids will pan out unitl a couple years down the road. Finally, I think playing S in the SEC is a much better league to develop skills required (pass and run defense) for the NFL than the Big10. Playing 2 or 3 games a year against a high level opponent vs. every week makes a difference in the long run. Not saying Bell will not be a great college (or even pro) player. But I am not ready to place Bell over Kelly down the line. Today yes, future - let's wait and see.
Actually that is inaccurate.....Bell was rated about the 50th best player in the country while Kelly is rated around 75th. There is very little difference between the top 100 but there is a long way to go for both players.
However Sam is right....this was about Meyers history of winning and Jones hopes of winning
