Dooley never gave him a sniff at DC
He was no more succesful as a DC than Sal was in his last stint.
Not the point, lance was Sal 3 years removed from when Kiffin hired him away from Bama. Point is neither should have been DC, but lance was just as qualified as Sal but Dooley didn't even give him a look and Lance went back to Bama and we saw tonight who got the better end of the deal.
Bama also had a significantly more talented group of players on defense who had played in the 3-4 system for several years and were built for that style of play. Tennessee is in the first year of the 3-4, and is faced with having to plug in players who aren't suited for the requirements of the 3-4. If LT had been named DC at Tennessee and made the same switch to the 3-4, things would not have turned out any differently with him and Sunseri's roles reversed.
Sal....he is a lot richer.
I dont understand why you guys are on Sal so hard. You dont have that much talent on defense to start with much less have the type guys to run our D. Sal was an outstanding coach for us and I hope if you guys do fire him we have a spot on staff for him again.
I mean neither did Saban.
When did Saban last hire a DC? When did Dooley?
In hindsite....we would have been better off just hiring LT as DC. From a scheme standpoint and recruiting standpoint. He knew our current personnel and what they could and couldn't do, he has coached both LB and DL and he has been a DC.

Sal took a defense that finished 28th nationally and has it 98th out of 120 schools this year.
That is why Sal is blamed. That is all coaching and scheme.
I can't think of a DC in the country that has done a worse job than Sal this year.
How many times did people say the transition to the 3-4 is always a rough one? How badly did Alabama and Georgia both struggle when they made the change? I'm amazed that people such as yourself conveniently overlook the fact that these growing pains were a known commodity before the season even began and choose instead to blame everything on Sunseri and Dooley. The reality outweighs your perception (and apparent agenda).
+1 Agree with you on all points.
How about some stats to show you don't have a clue what you are talking about?
Georgia 2009 finished 38th in total defense and fired Wille M.
Georgia 2010 finished 23rd in total defense after switching to the 3-4
Georgia struggled mightily didn't they?
Now what is your excuse?
