My dad lives in Cabot, AR, about 30 minutes north of Little Rock. He just called me and said the sports talk radio stations just blew up about BREAKING NEWS: Arkansas has offered Les Miles. Said it was something like 5 years ~$30M.
Not saying it's true. Just wondering if anyone has heard or can confirm this.
Have no clue if true or not, but if it is I couldn't blame Miles. Lsu fans seem to turn on him every chance they get, granted sometimes it is warranted.
If that were to happen, that would be the dumbest coaching move in history. Lester couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag without that Louisiana talent. I say no chance that happens.
There is a post on there board with the same topic. One guy posted of a tweet from national columnist who said he just got off the phone with miles agent and said that the rumor isn't true.
Not much of a raise - he already makes $5 million when bonuses are included. Arky has to bring more juice than that. Not to mention his agent has already shot this report down.
Miles needs to lay off the grass.....the grass with dirt on it, AND the other kind.
Sounds like it's not true. Couldn't believe it. I can't believe the crap the Arkansas radios are willing to throw out there without confirmation.
If he didn't leave to take the job at his alma mater I can't imagine he'd do it for Arky.
Per Bruce Feldman via Twitter:
"Asked 2 sources abt Les Miles/Arkansas report. Both said may be something there but probably using for leverage w LSU. "
"FWIW Les Miles-Jeff Long (Ark AD) connection is interesting. Both are Bo Schembechler guys & spent a lot of time at MICH. "

Your team. All the time.
My thoughts exactly
Since this is Silly Season, let me be equally silly. WHAT IF....since Lester is at the very least entertaining offers from teams, what if Tennessee slipped him an offer of $6mil/yr. He accepts...brings back Chavis and retains Chaney, Pittman, Graham, and brings Brother Tee back home. Would we, as a VolNation, accept him with open arms?
My prediction is that Arkansas is going to get turned down a lot and will end up "settling" for James Franklin. They could do a lot worse.
