You may want to re-read the article. The very title says "Offseason could be time to evaluate Cuonzo Martin's contract". I don't know what you're trying to be nice about but say what you feel. But it's about bball crazy time with firings and rumors etc that's why the article was written. Not sure what you're not understanding.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
I, like many of you, don't think now is necessarily the time for a renegotiation or an extension. But if I read the article correctly, it is merely stating Martin's plan if the University FIRST begins contract talks. Any one of us would be prepared for such a situation, I'd like to think. So, I dont take it as he is actually out looking for a raise, just being prepared in case.
Now on the other hand, I think the article mentioned that his pay is tied for 10th in the league. That is not cool either. I know we havent made it to the dance, but when it comes to SEC play Zo and Co (I like the ring of that) have been at least top 4 in conference the last two years. His pay should at least reflect that and I wouldnt think it unreasonable for him to request as much.
But anywho, here's to hoping for many better years from CCM and the basketVols.
