Somebody get called up to the majors?
Oy the Big East is now the Big Least... Conference USA reincarnated
Per Andy Katz
This is going to suck if it helps Memphis lock down basketball recruits from their area.
Remind me why the Big East gets an automatic BCS bowl bid?
North East corridor , strong East coast , and they make ESPN lots of bball money.
But the Big East is about to lose its BCS auto bid...come on, Memphis will help them save it?
And for those who know soccer:
To me it is a two edge sword. Yes, it gives them more prestige than being in conf USA, but it also means they must play some damn good conference basketball teams every year instead of that group of USA teams. Georgetown, Louisville, Connecticut, St. Johns, Providence, and Villanova will give the tigers all they want and thus it will be harder to get a good seed in March. JMO.

i beg to differ- actually playing somebody may help their seedings if they can pick up a win or two, the committee doesn't seem to be too impressed by gaudy W-L records lately if they don't contain quality opponents...
good for them and as somebody posted the other day , there are only so many recruits they can take in a year and Memphis is loaded with great players
but....did anybody from the Big East even realize they played football???.......i doubt it.....
Given the number of teams either leaving or trying to leave CUSA, I'm starting to wonder if that conference will wind up being the first victim of realignment.
They've already somewhat merged with the Mountain West... they will just need to complete that merge to survive
It's pretty much a given automatic qualifiers will be dropped after this BCS contract is up.
A guy on the radio in Memphis said the Big East looked at Memphis football as what they could be not what they are, very similar to Cincinnati.
I wouldn't exactly call the Big East the majors. More like they got called up from AA to AAA.
Depends on which sport you're talking about. Still very strong in basketball, even after losing a couple of powerhouses, and Memphis certainly helps them out there.
