Now that every SEC AD has passed on him (unless, heaven forbid, Hart hires him), can we state with some authority that Petrino's failures aren't merely personal or moral, but actually have institutional and systemic consequences that scare people in charge?
I say Petrino ends up at a mid-major this year or nowhere at all.
What say ye?

He would tear up the Big 10.
Would love to see him battle Urban Meyer.
Hope he lands at Wisconsin.

You trust Petrino about like a fox in a henhouse! Turn your back and its after a chick!!
Been saying that for weeks now. The man is an incredibly effective head coach, but he is 100% untouchable by major schools' administrators. If the SEC, which is not generally known for its academic reputation, is unwilling to touch him then which of the allegedly more academically rigorous conferences (e.g. Big Ten, ACC, Pac-99) will?
(Answer: probably none yet, but who knows?)
I believe we are seeing what might be called a blackball, or perhaps Double Secret Probation.
Considering the jobs that have been filled, we might also be able to include Butch Davis and Jim Tressel in that club.
I agree. You did a great job of noting that he violated state hiring laws in hiring his girlfriend into a job that would report directly to him. He then lied to his boss about it.
