I have been hard on the new staff as soon as they were hired and that's because I couldn't let go of the thought of Gruden being our head coach (just like everyone else). Now that I have done my research I am confident that CBJ and this staff will bring us back for numerous reasons.
1. Continuity. Something we haven't had a lot of here lately. The staff all knew each other and coached together at some point (minus CJG). This is big because they know what to expect from one another and there isn't going to be that big of a learning curve. Not to mention numerous coaches on staff have SEC ties which is going to pay dividends down the road in recruiting the elite talent back to Knoxville.
2. Coaching. From the coaching aspect Butch has been successful at every single stop. Meyer and Saben didn't start in the SEC. I believe Butch is a better X and O's guy than Dooley and seems to have a better grasp on the game of football.
3. Tradition. Butch seems to understand the importance of our tradition and has taken full advantage. He knows that having former players around is a big boost to the program. Unlike Dooley he allows and hell even hired former players to take part in activities such as having the get together to watch the National Championship game.
4. Relationships. Butch seems to have that trait that all players love. He is a players coach and we're not use to having one of those. He is building relationships with all of the recruits families and the players who are currently on the roster.
There is no doubt in my mind that Butch will get us back to relevance again and I truly believe next years recruiting class is gonna be a monster jam packed with legacies.
Also exciting to see a "somewhat" rejuvenated fan base whose excited to get the wheels churning instead of ripping off the wheels.
They have hit the ground running, let's just hope they can keep this up!!

Everyone was disappointed at 1st but we could have very well found our selves an absolute Big Orange Diamond in that rough of a coaching search
After everyone being in complete shock over the Dooley hire, I figured there would be no reason we wouldn't make the "home run hire" that we all wanted. But once again that didn't happen but I am excited to see what CBJ is gonna do for us. He has yet to disappoint and only continues to wow me.
Agree totally with op. well said
It's nice to see the difference and feel the vibe of the new staff.
Totally agree it is a breath of fresh air from the last staff that was here. From the way they "recruited" or should i say didn't recruit the state of Tennessee as hard as they should. Gonna be a transition year the first year but I really look for us to jump on the scene next season!
Nice post ZZ. +1 GO VOLS!
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
I said the same thing in a similar post about where I thought we would finish on NSD and I said 11-13th. For that to happen we need to hold onto Carr, and get North, Miller, Kondolo, Gibson, Lawson, Bellamy, Morris, and Levenberry. I think we strike out on Green and get Ford. The biggest prize will be getting Bell.
