So I see on the player ratings there is a star rating and an associated number. I get that part. What is the average number below that? I believe I've heard someone refer to it as a composite rating or something.
Just wanted to get an idea.
I believe it's the average from all the major recruiting sites.
Brier is correct. It's a composite from all major recruiting sites. ESPN Scout Rivals and 247
Actually, it's not quite that simple. There's a very complex formula that goes into determining a player's 247Composite rating, but it's not just an average of the major recruiting sites' ratings. We also don't say which sites' ratings we use.

Here is a link to the full explanation. It says the link is unavailable, but it should work fine.

Your team. All the time.
to the board, abb4! Thanks for posting! Happy to have you here!
As others have said, we have two ratings on players' profile pages. At the top, you'll find the player's 247Sports rating — what he has been rated by 247Sports' analysts — and next to that, you'll see where he ranks at his position, in his state and nationally based on our ratings.
Below that, you'll find the player's 247Composite rating and where he ranks nationally, at his position and in his state in the 247Composite. As I just mentioned above, the 247Composite is compiled using some sort of complex formula that's way over my head, but the idea behind it is to combine a prospect's rating by several major recruiting sites and come up with an overall rating that removes all bias and gives a comprehensive view of how a player is regarded by recruiting analysts.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions. Wes, Kevin and me are around basically all the time to answer and discuss anything that's on your mind.
Sorry Ryan, that's how interpreted it I guess.
Now we are looking for a non-coach to hire? what's that? I'm so confused.
Thanks everyone for the responses. Glad to be here, I have enjoyed it so far after years on other sites.
