Ainge mentioned him on his show this morning. No one is talking about it right now. Ainge said he'd be a solid hire & he confirmed point #1 below is a real possibility. 2, 3 & 4 are my thoughts.. BUt I do think it makes sense based on previous coaching searches and how we thought we were hiring coaches when what we are actually doing was getting feedback from people that knew them close. Who else to get feedback from than the guy that takes over for you.
1. He will be cleared of any wrong doing while at UNC this week by NCAA.
2. Hart is researching all that transpired @ MIA: This is why we're getting the Al Golden talk. WE are down their talking to folks about the program and the condition it was in when Butch left for the Browns. Smoke screen..
3. Hart is researching all that transpired @ UNC. This is why we're hearing more and more noise on Fedora. Same thing as above. No way Fedora is leaving UNC after 1 year. He is not Kiffin. Smoke screen..
4. Retention of a minimum of 3 current DD staff members. Pittman worked with Butch at UNC and have a good relationship. Butch will likely agree to retaining Graham, Hinshaw and have a good argument retain Chaney. Huge cost savings here.
Think about this for a minute. Their are many reasons why the smoke is around the "potential" candidates
***we have a tight budget.. We'd save big on buy out clauses and keep our offenses in tack.
***Butch wants the job and will not be a huge salary guy. Probably around $2.5 million and a value at that.
We will need a seady compliance department that keeps us clean of wrong doing. I agree, I'm not thrilled with this hire, but I do think we could do worse. Ala, Al Golden or Fedora.
He is a rebuilding machine. We could do worse, but we could also do better.
Don't see us going for a guy with his issues while we are on NCAA probation ourselves.
"Count it down with me. Five, four, three, two, one.
The national champion is clad in Big Orange!"
fact: ainge also did a ton of drugs in college
Now we need biljones and UT Happy to join the thread and present their facts and findings.
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
that really wasn't needed man
Let's leave the trashy quips for the other sites. The reason I am hear is that folks seem to keep it classy as a general rule.
agreed, thats why i said its not needed to say that about someone who gave his all for the vols and still supports them and the community today
Come on, bwillis. I know you're new, so I'll cut you some slack this time, but we're really not OK with that kind of talk here. Please avoid cheap shots like that — whether it's directed at other posters on the board, media members, UT players or whoever — in the future.

What kid didn't? We should keep it classy on here.
Man, so Davis, Fisher and Gruden have all accepted.
Davis can build programs without a doubt. Only problem is, everywhere he has been, its ended ugly.
Very interesting post and you bring up some very good points. As someone said above, we could definitely do worse.
Welcome to the board!
my number 1 option is Bill O'Brien from Penn State, but he seems really devoted to that program and those kids, and it would probably hurt them more than Kiffin hurt us. Wishful thinking on him
We're cool. I just had your back on what you said. Just being Tubbs to your Don Johnson, "Yea, what he said." :)
His buyout is 9.5 million.
you the man
you the man lol
heard it was 2.3 million a year for the remainder which is around 18 million, at least thats what Wes said in his update. I just think he did remarkable things with Penn State this year
Seen 9.5 million on the rumors board. Forgot about Wes's post.
Man....that's a hell of a staff. So which ones gonna be the head coach?
bahahaha...Cheap...funny but cheap! I dont put much stock in what Ainge says either. Glad he overcame the demons tho. I do like his show tho. #rogue
