FINAL IN KNOXVILLE: Tennessee 51, Xavier 47.
Ugly game, but Vols' bench helps them overcome a battle of attrition.

Tough to say "ugly win" when you beat a team that's been to four of the past five Sweet Sixteens. But it wasn't pretty.
This is the type of game a team has to win in order to put themselves in the best position come tournament time.
Yeah... But offensively... This team is ugly... Richardson is improving, but Golden.... ugh... Wtf happened
Big win boys.
Ugly or not we are now 8-3 with some tournament type wins and a chance to build our resume stronger on Friday
Every thing in the left hand column is good.
A win is a win is a win, ugly or otherwise. On another note, anybody else think that college basketball officiating is spotty at best? I'm not talking about just this game or just TN games, I mean in all of college. I've watched several basketball games over the past few days and I still don't know what constitutes a foul!
"Never take for granted what it means to be a Volunteer." Peyton Manning
Neither do the refs...
Cuonzo: Derek Reese's shoulder wasn't cleared until yesterday. That's why he debuted tonight.
I think it's been that way for years. Some nights, it seems they allow a lot of contact and let them play. Other nights, they call a foul for breathing too hard. Sometimes, it changes from minute to minute. Very inconsistent to say the least.
Wes should weigh on on this. He was very outspoken on this subject last season.
Cuonzo: The Vols' crowd and bench were two of the biggest reasons why the team came back and beat Xavier.
Guess I was just wanting someone else to verify my thoughts. The total lack of consistency is my biggest complaint.
Cuonzo: Vols' 6-8 freshman wing Derek Reese is a "difference-maker ... can play the 2, 3 and 4."
Glad it's a W but sometimes these guys just aren't fun to watch. I really like Richardson. Reese was fun to watch tonight too. GBO
If he can come into the game and score, he makes a tremendous difference. Right now, they have ZERO go-to guys on offense.
I say we hire Pearl as offensive coordinator and keep Martin as defensive coordinator! Make them co head coaches and see what happens. LOL
Know what they call a team that wins six straight 51-47 games in March? The national champion.
I've liked Josh from the start, since his Mom came to live with him... Anyone that can play classical piano and play ball in the SEC is good in my book. That guy wants it, and doesn't expect anything will be given to him. Very good game tonight.

He's improving offensively. Last year, he would score like 2 points a game on offense. He's definitely trending in the right direction.
Little raw and intimidated coming into games last year, but it looks like he's finding his role and gaining more confidence each week. He just seems to play with more smarts and desire each time I get to watch a game.
