I've been listening to Bruce on Sirius/XM all season and then heard him on ESPN radio this morning and it just reinforces how much I miss him as our basketball coach. I know he isn't coming back and I know there was a lot of crap going on behind the scenes when he was here but as a fan, I really wish he was our coach. This isn't a dig at CCM, I think he is a fine coach and wil do a good job here, but I just miss what Bruce brings to the table. I guess I'll eventually get over it but for now I still have regret he isn't here and I still want to hit him upside his head and scream at him, "What were you thinking?"
I also wish his tenure played out much different towards the end. He really loved this place. It's a shame he had to go. That said I think we can still improve as a basketball program
It all goes back to simply telling the truth. The BBQ would have been a minor footnote and a slap on the wrist for the program had he not lied about it.
Yep. I never understood what went thru his mind when he lied. I'm not sure if we will ever get back to the #1 ranking. I will always remember our 1 vs 2 game against Memphis.
I could kick Bruce is the butt for doing what he did to himself and Tennessee basketball. I miss him a great deal myself and love watching him on TV.
He did so much for our program. He almost single handedly made it relevant again. I still have the DVD I made of the #1 vs. #2 Memphis game and still watch it every now and then. At that point it seemed the sky was the limit for us. But ultimately he was like the Greek mythical character Icarus, who flew too close to the sun and crashed. Wow, just so, so sad.
