From Yahoo! Sports: ESPN college football analyst Cook died in his sleep at age 81.
Good grief! I'm feeling kinda creepy right now, seeing as I made a Beano reference in another thread not 4 hours ago.
We all knew he wasn't young, but I hadn't even heard he was sick. He was one of those old fellows who seemed like he was just gonna live forever.
"Bravely taking to his feet, he beat a very brave retreat." Sir Robin's Minstrels.
I always listened to him and Ivan on the ESPNU College Football Podcast. It won't be the same without him.
There are many signatures in the world....this one is mine!
They said he died in his sleep without mentioning any sort of complications or conditions, so he might not have been ill at all...
This is from an ESPN article:
"Cook also started a blog in 2010. His last entry, from Oct. 1, read: 'Sorry to say that health issues hit me at the worst time -- start of college football season. Everything except recovery takes a back-burner now.'"
UTK, Class of 2009
going to miss the guy as he was fun to watch
