Per profootballtalk Cameron to be OC at LSU
There are only four answers to any question: Yes, No, I don't know, or the Correct Answer.
During UTs hiring process of a coach I always said he would be a good candidate. He might be a good SEC head coach one day. Just my opinion, of course.
He could be. Probably a pretty good move by Les. They have needed a new direction on O for a while if you ask me.
I've met Cam and his family and spent some time with them. He and Eric Parker signed a Chargers team photo for me. Cam framed it and also gave me a NFL Coaches Assoc hat.
He is a really nice guy, but I wouldn't be happy if I was LSU and I would only be happy if he had become the next Tennessee coach ONLY because I know him.
He wasn't successful in Indiana, go figure. It's hard to win there, even with Randle-El. He got the Chargers OC job mainly because he was familiar with the previous head coach's offense. Schottenheimer essentially wanted continuity in the offense. The offense did well after some roster retooling.
The main problem for me is he went to Miami and lost control of the team there. That is rough. Being let go down the stretch by the team that won the Super Bowl does not help his resume.
Very well made points poli. I guess I just look at LSU and think that anything has to be better than what they have been doing with that talent.
If it is true (I haven't heard), I will be happy for him and want them to be successful. I've certainly followed his career since I left San Diego.
I will be curious if they would want him to install his offense or if he would simply be a caretaker of the current.
