Who are y'alls favorite play-by-play or color guys? I don't think it gets any better than Jim Nantz. Very smooth. I wish he still did SEC on CBS games like he did waaaay back in the day; he'd be better than Lundquist. Verne...I liked him back 5 or 6 years ago but he's gotten worse as time's gone on. As far as color guys go: for basketball, Clark Kellogg and Bill Raftery are excellent, and so is Jay Bilas. Football-wise, I think Todd Blackledge is the best; Herbstreit isn't too bad either.
"What did he do? All he did was score!" - John Ward
Easily, John Ward and Bill Anderson. The call by those two from the "Miracle at South Bend" still gives me chills.

This is such a tough topic for me to answer. Doc Emrick is the best overall IMO in any sport. I am a huge Kevin Harlan, Marv Albert fan. I find Verne to be good only because I have grown up with him. I like hello friends Jim Nantz better in golf than anything else he does. Gus Johnson is obviously fantastic. On color I enjoy Bill Walton, Steve Kerr, Reggie Miller, Jimmy Dykes even though he is a tool. I dislike too many for this list.
There are only four answers to any question: Yes, No, I don't know, or the Correct Answer.
Fantastic choice. Emrick may be my favorite announcer in sports. +1 for you, sir.

I feel accomplished today now. A +1 from Ryno. On a serious note Doc on NBC for hockey is outrageously good.
For basketball hands down Gus Johnson there's no other conversation about it

I hate to look so much like a homer but the best announcer I will always remember is John Ward. I'd turn down the TV sometimes and turn on the radio to listen to him.
I don't know if he coined the phrases or not. But when he'd say It's football time in Tennessee and Give him six Touchdown Tennessee it gave me chills and got me fired up.
And I just have a lot of good memories listening to him on the radio with my mom and dad. It was a family affair.
and not that they are in the same class as the top 2 but Nessler and Mayock make for a great pairing
"Give him six" "We don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama" "Grit N Grind"
Greatest sports voice ever, hands down -> John Facenda

I never realized who that was calling those games. He is very good.
Not a mainstream sport, but I also like Bas Rutten (Pride) and Joe Rogan (UFC) calling MMA fights. People accuse Joe of being too fanboyish or over the top sometimes, but I enjoy his enthusiasm.

Agree, Gus is the man!
Harry Kalas was unbelievable for baseball.
