What is everyone's thoughts?
Also, I am becoming more and more impressed with "Watch the Throne" the more I listen to it.
"I never understood planned parenthood/Cause I never met nobody planned to be a parent in the hood" love those lyrics by KW
I really like Magna Carta so far. Watch the Throne is a once in a lifetime album. It was amazing. Yeezus, which is Kanye's new album is trash in my opinion. But I like MC so far.
Other than the Blueprint 3, I always take a minute to warm up to Jay's new albums so I am still get used to it. Yeezus is interesting to me, lyrically Kanye fell off some which is to say he is on the level of most other artist because he is usually so on point but he has some complexities in there that are interesting but they are not the usual quality.
What I love about Yeezus is that he stylistically went after something different - I can always give props to that.
I love the title track to MC, the fusion of Nirvana in there was brilliant.
I still like to think he retired after Black Album....everything else has been fine, but Jay is better than fine. I will say Watch the throne is amazing though
I've only listened to it briefly so I dont have much tosay yet but the Timberlake track is banging
Magna Carta falls in the middle of the pack as far as his catalog is concerned..reasonable doubt , blueprint 1 ,American gangsta and black album are the best but Magna Carta is still solid..even jay was quoted as saying this was not his best ..I agree watch the throne is a classic ..you can go from first track to end without skipping ..will be hard to top that one!
I think Yeezus is pure genius. Say what you will about Kanye, but the guy is constantly doing something new. Yeezus is raw and untamed. I am a Kanye fan, but I'm not afraid to say when my favorites (artists, teams, companies, etc.) produce a poor product.
Personally both Yeezus and MC felt really rushed and unpolished. Kendrick Lamar is KILLING it though.
“Tact is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.”
― Winston Churchill
MC is a much better album than Yeezus IMO.
Yeezus does feel rushed and spacey. MC is a more traditional rap album with some innovative beats.
Kendrick is killing it indeed.
Ok, I stayed up until 7 this morning listening to both albums and studying their lyrics and came up with a new opinion- Yeezus is a lot better than I originally thought - the songs are a tad more complicated than I originally anticipated and I still think Kanye west is the best.
As for Magna Carta: I actually think the two albums play off each other motif wise and, I know I am going to get killed for this, and I also am not saying I agree with his stance on things, lyrically this is the most mature album has done. If you go through and break down these lyrics it is clear that Jay produced an album that is extremely compacted lyrically with plenty of layered complexities, I actually love the album now.
You guys need to hear the new Migos mix tape
Our Butch is an awesome Butch he reigns from Knoxville with Jalen Hurd on the way our Butch is an awesome Butch
Migos is pretty good, but I guess I'll have to give Yeezus more of a listen. But as for MC, lyrically it's amazing and that's what I love about it. Even the little 1 minutes songs like "Beach is Better" are lyrical genius.
I agree, MC blazed through the whole album, very well done.

I agree. It is a good album in comparison with the industry as a whole but it is only average when it come to some of JayZ's other masterpieces. +1 for Outkastvol & the OP. Good topic.
