a team that won nine games this year, just refused a bowl invitation. Can someone please explain that to me, because I don't understand why you wouldn't play in a bowl if you were eligible, unless you were banned?
Apparently they are adamantly opposed to playing Louisiana-Monroe.

, @LATechPWalsh : LaTech wasn't invited to a bowl or turned down a bowl invite?
I can't wait to hear exactly WHY they do not want to play them. I would bet the players are not exactly on board with this decision...this is the kind of stuff that could tear a team apart IMO.
Depending on the bowl a lot of teams lose money now in these bowl games. Maybe that is it or maybe they have messed up and self inflicted a bowl ban if they think something is coming down the road, who knows.
The story is that the Independence Bowl wanted an answer earlier in the day and were unwilling to wit on La. Tech who were waiting to see if either the Liberty or GoDaddy bowls were going to offer. So the Independence Bowl went ahead and invoted someone else, La. Tech didnt turn them down.
Says The Wizard of Oz!
Yeah, Kevin posted the release from Louisiana Tech earlier. Thanks.
The initial story from some Louisiana media - at least on the Monroe side - reflected what I was saying, but I guess that wasn't accurate.
Really feel bad for the players, especially the seniors that thought for sure they had another game left.
